I was just informed to today that my M3 CS has a lithium ion battery. I've charged it over the winters with a non lithium charger and it worked fine. Am I missing something here? Could it be damaging the battery? Is it possible the charger wasn't doing anything and the battery held its charge for 4 months? Thanks.

Guys, for the CTEK Lithium 56-926, how long is the eyelet cable that comes in the box? If it's too short, do you choose CTEK 56-382 or 56-304 and why? Thx.

Car was on with horn beeping. Allways left the car charging without blockimg the doors . Anyway theres something with the noco that the car senses wrong voltage or something and doesn not like it ! I asked a Friend that has an m4 in chile and he has the ctek and that never happened to him. Im In uruguay by the way . Sent some emails to noco and they told me Not to Use ir anymore if the car did all those things . Buy the ctek ! At least i bought the noco That will work on any other battery . Thats why i didnt want to Buy the ctek cause its only for lithium batterys and if i sell The car ot will Become Useles . |

Yep, just set it to the Lithium LiFePo4 setting.

Hi all, sorry for reviving an old thread. The battery on my M3 CS is dead after not using for 5 weeks and it being barely above 0 degrees celsius during that time.
I have bought a a CTEK Lithium XS (40-003) and the car doesn't seem to want to accept the charge. I hook it up, it times out and starts just flashing. I have hit the reset button and actually just set the alarm off. Any ideas? |

FAILURE MODES There are several ways in which batteries can fail, often resulting in fires, explosions and/or the release of toxic gases. Electrical Abuse – Electrical abuse takes place when a battery is overcharged, charged too rapidly, or externally short-circuited. This can also occur if the battery is discharged too rapidly or if the battery is over discharged below its specified end voltage. Electrical abuse can lead to an inoperable ESS, overheating, fire, and explosion. https://www.nfpa.org/News-and-Resear...-Failure-Modes My company sells Lipo batteries and when they are discharged below their maintenance voltage they are very dangerous. We dispose of them immediately. |
