There are tons of happy customers -- search for some of the other threads on jb1. This setup is the same as jb4 on map 1.

Same here, I think OP has a connection problem since he is talking about the car hesitating.

Like someone said, you should uninstall it and run your friend again. Maybe get dyno'd to see what the your stock and tuned numbers are? That should be a pretty easy way to see where you are at.

Maybe I missed it but are both of you DCT ?

Dumb question, but how does the tune get power? Is it through one of the connectors?

I'm running a stage one tune with no issues. I have nothing but the rear end dyno to confirm it but the car feels a bit faster. Just my $0.02 if you're expecting this relatively small boost over stock to make a substantial difference in a few street races you're expectations are a bit high. Also stop street racing. You own a M now, it's below you.

First of all, if Traction Control is kicking in and limiting your power, you might end up being slower than a stock M4 that traction isn't intervening. When TC kicks is, it is somewhat dramatic.

I have this same problem, search for the thread I started. Its likely a spark plug issue not gapped correctly.....

It uses the sensors to manipulate the ECU into making more power.

If there was an issue with the tuning itself you'd have a permanent check engine light in dash. Depending on the fuel quality, heat soak involved, you're looking at 30-50hp peak gained with the Stage1. It's easy to lose a short race you should win with DTC kicking in, a bad start, shifting at too high of an RPM, a car with less heat soak, etc. If he is sputtering at higher RPM that could be a sign of a spark plug issue with the car or a fueling issue requiring him to turn down the Stage1 boost from 4psi to 3psi. Especially if OP has mods other than just the tune. For modified cars the JB4 with its fuel control, boost by gear to limit DTC, etc, etc, is a much better choice. Especially if you are concerned with winning races.

On the Stage1 power there are literally tons of Stage1 dynos posted so just search around. Here is my Stage1 dyno from 2015 when the car was stock.

I think he means power by how does it turn on without a power wire

Haha Mike I actually was wondering about electrical power, which you already answered. I noticed now that my question could be interpreted the other way too

I have nothing mathematic to add but I added stage 1 last week and I feel the difference in power, through butt dyno and that extra kick you feel. Third gear is most obvious, or right after 65+ mph it just explodes till red line.

Raced my buddies c450 a few times stock and after tune (that thing is a beast launching! That 4 wheel drive) and after 60 mph stock I used to pull stock and walk away...after tune I actually pull maybe 4-5 car lengths by 100 mph.

Back to the op post, yes more power does have some more traction issues after tune. Can't just mash and pray like stock, needs some good right foot control in 1st gear then you can use kick down in 2nd for best results

I made a mistake, I don't think it was traction. I think my fuel trims are maxed. I bought jb4 and will just connect the stage 1. My plan is to log map 1 to see what was going on with BMS stage 1. If I maxed fuel trims then I will connect fuel sensor also.

I didn't expect much from the tune but I didn't expect to stay side by side with a stock m4. I was literally stock lol.

Even half car length would've been fine with me but to take a risk in tuning and run same as stock didn't make any sense.
