Seriously guys, we know most BMW drivers/forum members/enthusiasts arent a fan of american cars and mustangs in particular (cue people who would rather "die" than drive one) but come on. As great as the M4 is, it's giving up way too much HP to legitimately have a chance unless serious driver error, especially in a straight line roll race (those cars are apparently able to hit 200mph with enough road)
hahaha well what i would say is that american muscle cars are great but bmw's are well rounded balance between performance refinement and luxury.

i drove same cobra as in video, only stock and convertible; great car but driving it hard was too difficult, too noisy and uncomfortable so having a fast car that is good on track days is awesome but i like a full package. i never doubted that 550 HP car can outperform a 425 HP, all i said was it has to be reasonable comparison.
i recently ran my car against a 992 carerra and walked all over him, and i think it was unfair to him, i'm at 480 rwhp and he is at 300 at best. that was my point. it was fun but resluts should not be discussed as something out of a fair race.

Some are uninformed about the 13+ gt300 I see...

It runs with if not edges out a stock c6 z06 from a roll

Some mags have a faster trap speed for the 13+ gt500 than the Hellcat at the 1/2 mile or 1 mile air strip pulls (can't remember which leaning toward the 1 mile)

Just FYI

lawl

It's super impressive what the M4 can do though. With the driving dynamics, stiff chassis feel in the twisties, all the luxurious amenities, with just a few mods it isn't in a completely different zip code as a modded GT500

Exactly, they were very leisure shifts.

Yes they have run into the 7s but I wouldn't quite call them streetable. The cars are running slicks and skinnies and a lot of lightening.

My point was that mod for mod the M4 is not going to keep up.

That was some very slow shifting in the GT500. Having owned one, you need to powershift it in order to get the most out of it, especially to keep up with the DCT.
Here if you watch this video, you hear the difference between a regular "quick shift" and a powershift, and let me tell you it makes a MASSIVE difference.

Yes shifting speed is everything for a 3 pedals car propelling in a straight line, the loss of momentum between each shift is too great to make up

Unless the air strip in the video has an imaginary bend, I don't see that as being relevant to the thread.
