Less HP than was guessed around here for the standard car. Can't wait to see it/drive it in person, though. (and, to flog the dead horse, if only they would offer a manual!) edit: I think this is the correct link: http://www.mercedes-benz.de/content/...s-amg-c63.html 350 KW of power (or about 469 hp)

I think people who thought the standard car would have more hp than the standard AMG GT were too optimistic. Earlier estimates had it around 460-480 hp I believe. The comparos should be interesting. I expect it to be a repeat of last gen with the c63 faster in a straight line and the M3 faster in the corners. Also, it seems quite heavy at over 3900 lbs, isn't that higher european curb weight than the w204?

This car seems right about where one should have expected: a bit more power, quite a bit more weight than M3. Much like the AMG vs M battle has always been. Agree it will be pretty close in the straight line but the weight should play in around the corners. It looks decent from the outside. Not sure about views on interior yet....

I think this is going to be a handsome car IRL. Nothing out of the ordinary styling wise from what we've seen from AMG lately (not a fan of the time attack wheels though, that's a cheesy option IMO). The battle between the M3/4 vs RS4/5 and C63 this time around is going to be seriously epic. Can't wait to see the comparos.

Well they were claiming there were 200lb of weight savings and while most companies overestimate weight savings, this seems to have no weight savings or even heavier unless I'm mistaken about the w204 european curb weight.

The blue standard C63 non-s, non-edition 1 looks pretty good here..
EDIT: still kind of disappointed with the weight figure although it was to be expected.

I actually think it looks pretty cool.
IMO the M3 still looks much cooler though. This car is going to weigh 4,000+ pounds?!?! Cmon Merc.

My guess it'll match the M3/m4 in a straight line and be a tad slower on a track, while having a much greater degree of luxury.
I love my M3, but the amount of cheap materials on every model (full leather interior or not) reminds me alittle too much of an e36. Merc will weigh more in exchange for more sound deadening and more luxury. I'd still choose my m3 any day of the week. Besides, 6mt.

glad to finally have the wraps taken off of this. competition is always a good thing for us.
my prediction is that the same thing will be said as last time around - C63 is faster in a straight line, but slower around a track. we'll see... |

That could be a non-starter for a lot of people. Hell, I might as well keep my 550i Dinan S2 -- she's also fat and fast. |

Nice weight loss
The bs from basically every company about the weight losses continues. Audi, Chevy, BMW, ford and now Merc Color me 100% disinterested in this car, and imo it will not outperform an m4. Maybe in a straight line, but not by much imo |

Why I'll tell ya, she could....well, maybe I should save that story. More on topic, on the theory that the cycle for the next model begins as the current one is being released, it is interesting that (thus far) it seems BMW is the only one taking a serious attempt at shedding weight. Lexus didn't. Now it seems MB hasn't. Who knows how the comparos go, but I don't think people can accuse BMW of not trying to push the envelope and set the conversation when they are the ones going in new directions...

The curb weight includes 90% fuel, one driver (68 kg) and luggage (7 kg) to define curb weight under European Directive 95/48/EC.
"[5] data (filled curb weight with fuel tank 90 percent full, driver, 68 kg, and luggage, 7 kg) for curb weight according to Directive 92/21 / EC, version 95/48 / EC for vehicles with standard specification . Optional extras and accessories will generally increase as a rule this figure and reduce the payload capacity accordingly." Subtract the 75 kg / 165 lbs driver/luggage and you get a curb weight of 3770 lbs for the C63 and 3803 lbs for the C63 S (both weights with 90% fuel). Interested to see what it'll tip the scales at in US spec with options. |
