I think $65k is too high. This is essentially a Boss replacement and there will eventually be a GT500 priced above it. My guess is 50s but I could be wrong.

I'm thinking about getting one. Seems to be lots of car for the price but hope the weight is under 3600lbs.

Agreed…on the curve not so much the absolute numbers but flat as a table TQ and bhp on a linear diagonal (e.g. bhp doubles as rpm doubles)

Your right tho, this will likely blow past 92db at Laguna Seca. At least with the Boss 302 Laguna Seca, you could argue, you gonna black flag the car that's named after the track? LOL

The other issue mentioned is the weight….gonna be tough to be below 3700 given size of wheels, brakes (size and material), additional coolers (optional, but probably needed for track duty) and magnetic shocks (tend to be heavy). Lots of unsprung weight.

Finally, you'll probably have to buy the car without a test drive, so you have to rely on all those publications and TV shows to guide your purchase, which may be a hurdle for some (not for me, personally).

Shelby certainly doesn't mind making loud exhausts. Poor guy this past weekend went home early after not passing sound check at AMP with his completely stock GT500. Not the most recent model, the one before.

So reading up on the interview w chief engineer, this car's main benchmark was 991 carrera s. Some others were ferrari california, z28.. He also said its on another lvl than prev boss302 or gt500... I feel the hint that its probably faster than 991s.. Alcantera everywhere interior w sexy recaro seats.. Its almost as if they put whole buncha car nuts in a room and asked them what they want. And for once, a large corp company didnt bring any compromises for the money sake. Bravo ford bravo.. Hope german big trio (bmw, audi, merc) takes a lil notice.

I don't think this car can quite sway me from my choice.... it will be close, especially if it is the right price.

However, military sales will cure my markup issues in a heart beat, which could make this car even more attractive than I thought.

I'm sure. Patience is a virtue. Wait 4-6 months and pay the right price. I have (AND WILL NEVER EVER) pay $0.01 more than MSRP. I swallowed hard on MSRP for my CaymanS in '06. Just felt taken advantage of and haven't paid MSRP for anything else since.

This car is going to be a serious player! This is the first mustang to actually get me thinking...
Props to Ford. Looks like Ford and GM aren't in the game to compete in their segment, but win.

I love it!!! The Boss 302 challenged the M3 on the track, but this thing is several levels up, I can't wait to hear more.

I think under $60K well equipped.

I remember when BMW hired the Ferrari guys a few weeks ago the first thing I said was I hope he brings Ferrari sound to BMW and someone made a quip that BMW would never make a flat plane crank. Well why the heck not?!

Will come down to whether the new outside guys they hire have the authority along with the responsibility. My guess is probably so, as why go external unless you don't want to effectuate change?

I wonder if Ferrari clientele will now be picking up Fords as their weekend cars haha since all Ferrari V8s are going to be turbocharged within the next two years. As far as I can tell, all the top brass at Ferrari are leaving and it really does feel like the auto industry is in the middle of quite a shake-up. It remains to be seen who can adapt to an ever-changing and complex landscape.

But the new head of BMW M, Franciscus van Meel, has been with BMW for 36 years.

Check out the reactions from the press and attendees when the car was revealed. It was like Elvis Presley himself walked into the room. Also hilarious footage of a Ford guy revving the engine incessantly. Kudos to Ford for doing this. Dare one say this could be the P-51 Mustang of the auto industry!?

How can it be under 60k well equipped?

with the list of additional mods above the regular GT, which is already in the mid 40k well equipped....

remember the camaro zl1 is almost 60k well equipped!

Hearing a lot of rumors of $50k for this beast... Pretty down for adding this to the stable if that's true!
