Lease End buy out extended warranty options?
My lease is coming to an end in about 2 months.
I have a 17 M3 ZCP 6MT no sunroof. Fairly difficult spec to find and therefore I'm going to be forced to buy mine out I think. It has 37k miles, so I'm over on miles, but that's ok. My Residual is 47,457.90 I was looking into extended warranty options. 1) CPO - costs about 2600 and gets me the 1.99% APR from BMWFS and 1 additional year of warranty (2 years total) 2) Assurant 3 year/36k warranty from date of purchase - $4267 with $500 deductible and standard 3%-ish APR and 2 additional years of warranty (3/36 from purchase) 3) No extended warranty - still 3% ish APR Wondering which way I should go or if there are other options the dealer is not telling me about? Also dealer not offering me any discounts on the buy out, wondering if this is negotiable? Last edited by Kung Fu English; 11-06-2019 at 01:43 PM.. |

If you can have someone you trust buy your car out that has a different address, you can get a better deal. You won't get any deals under your name.

BMW recently changed the rules on lease buy outs. Dealers used to be able to buy the vehicle from BMWFS at the current market wholesale value and sell it to the customer below their residual if they wanted. BMWFS no longer allows it and the transaction is between BMWFS and the customer with very little to no discounting. It really sucks. The only way around it is by having the dealer sell the vehicle to somebody else who isn't you and who doesn't live at your address.

Since she would get no discounts on the lease buy out, I had my dealer broker the deal under my name(we don't live together as of yet). The savings were substantial. |

Dealer isn't allowed to sell the lease to current owner at less than residual amount. They are able to take the car in at current wholesale value (typically substantially less than residual value) and sell it for whatever number they want, so long as it isn't the original leasee of the vehicle.

So how is this saving anything (if you can find a buyer), b/c then sales tax on 2 purchases just inflates the price back up....? |

just buy it out from bmwFS; dealers will get penalized even if sold to same hosehold. don't let any dealer tell you otherwise.
dude don't get a warranty. these cars are pretty rock solid. just put that 4k and earn interest. you could cover a crank hub repair at dollar. |

also; FS will usually give you some sort of discount. I got 1k off without even asking. so there is that as well. furthermore dealer going to come with BS fees trying to act all professional and shit youll have to do the motor vechicle tag work by yourself but better than paying 400 bucks for "doc" fees
