Kinda where I ended up 10 years ago ... HPDEs are fun, but I have way more fun more frequently on canyon runs ... and reportedly some people do block, clear, and sweep backcountry runs for those in the more sporting mood, but even that isn't real track stuff.

Exactly - BMW needs to stop trying to be what it isn't: Porsche. There's a reason BMW has to underwrite so many leases: those are their people. Embrace it. Be it.

CanAutM3 nailed it: BMW needs to be the best mix of european designed performance & practicality for the best price ... and continue underwriting leases.

The BMW board has really made some horrible strategic decisions in the last 10 years and all of the same variety: how do we follow better? Try leading dipshits. The one time their tried it with EVs they got cold feet and abandoned ship at exactly the time EVs were starting to take off.

The BMW board needs to be wiped clean: yes they did good job capitalizing on the SUV craze, but in every other market and category they're perpetual followers always trying to be what they're not.

Well, if the car is already 190k basically, then you add in markup, it's going to come close to 220k or even more depending on the option. People are picky, some just prefer the GT3 because you get the same amount in a car.

You can kind of see it like a M3 Comp vs a M3 CS/GTS. Not everyone is willing to pay even more for just something a tad more when you can get close to that in a "basic" GT3 to begin with.

You do also have to take into the account of scalpers. Which Porsche mentioned they do not like but have no real control over who buys/sells etc etc. They know how much they can sell the car for, so they won't buy it at a certain price.

Scalpers like that are every where now a days, shoes, video cards for computers, cars etc. Real bastards.

Edit: Most GT3s will come at least close to 180k give or take a few thousand depending on options. Think option wise, usually 15k in added options on average. You add in markup, most of the time the car will come close to the base GT3RS MSRP.

Touching up on the M4, F8x was different. M4 comp came with pretty much everything you can hope for a base track/street car, CS offered very little advantage and GTS was way overpriced for what it is.

G8x now has neutered transmission and is much heavier, so unless CS/CSL brings something special other than the obvious weight saving(which I suspect they made it heavier on purpose so CS/CSL becomes more desirable) it is not going to impress.

Say all the ones that do not own a CS. The fact that I am 2.5 seconds faster at my local track than I was with my previous M4 ON THE SAME TIRES is very telling to me. It drives that much better. While I agree that the CS was way overpriced in the US from an MSRP standpoint, I find it is well worth the ~$12k premium I actually paid over a CP.

It’s actually how good the CS is that has me questioning the G8X. I have no doubts a competition G8X will be faster than a CP F8X, but I doubt it will offer much improvement over a F82cs. And in Canada, a decently optioned G82C retails at F82cs levels. Not worth it to me.

Man, that sounds worse than it looks. One of the comments states it’s a video and that never depicts the true sound. Anyone ever complain about the LFA, GT3, 458 exhaust on video? Maybe a Tesla owner but no one else.

This is like saying it doesn't photograph well. Of course, it’s ugly, why would it photograph well?

BMW is also making me start to hate carbon fiber. Its like chrome for modern times.

If its used for weight saving like the hood or roof great. They have forgotten form follows function.
