M4 Convertible F83 for tracking

Guys - Would really appreciate any help ! I am kinda confused..

I just sold my M3 and looking for another car .. Looking for a convertible with 4 seats (have kids) .. and occasionally want to take it to track .. (may be 4 times a year)..

M4 vert is the only option looks like .. coz its hardtop and the nearest track allows hart top convertibles.. Only question is anyone here have tracked their M4 vert ? If so what do you think and suggestions, opinions please..

May be I am asking for too much (Convertible/4 seats/Track)

Thanks in advance !

I e tracked my vert and it's been a ball. BUT, BMW CCA will not allow you in their HPDEs in a vert

I will say that if you're big into max performance on the track tho, the coupe and sedan are likely faster.

Cheers

If you want a car than can do it all, the F83 certainly is it.

Just be wary, not all clubs will allow verts.

My buddy and I both took our m4 convertibles to the track many times and it's a blast. We usually go to big willow and that car is amazing on the track. Both cars are stock except mine, I have 18 apex square setup on mine.

I got started tracking in my E46 M3 'vert. An F83 will do just fine with casual tracking, but it's a jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none situation.

As others have pointed out, not all groups will let you run in a 'vert. Make sure whoever you're planning to run with does.
Know that you're taking additional risk by tracking a 'vert. In the (unlikely, but non-zero) event of a rollover, the coupe/sedan are much safer.
It also won't be as good on-track as the F80/82 - it's heavier and less rigid.

But it can't be beat for top down motoring on a beautiful day

+1 on bmw Cca not allowing verts. Learned that when trying to track my old z4 with the club

But I can see the concern though. I mean, look at a few vids of fixed roof cars rolling over... and imagine that without the b and c pillars. Yikes

I personally now will never get into a vert on track that doesn't have a full cage, appropriate seats and 6pt harness
