people say on nt01 that the car snaps, but honestly i never feel the car snap unless wet events lol. but rcomps are less forgiving in general but not too much of a big deal.
Yeah I made sure to be attentive and would make corrections before any small slide could turn into a spin. I had a couple of high speed corrections that were a bit scary though: exiting riverside, left kink before phil hill and entering club corner but all went smoothly. I feel comfortable with just keeping the car where I want it to go but now just need to try full on drifting faster corners than turn 2 instead of just correcting oversteer. Hopefully the NT01s won't be too different lol, they weren't much more difficult to manage with euro mdm with slip but it may be different this time around.

M4 at Radical Loop at Spring Mountain, NV

My best time was 1:24.57.
GC camber plates, Pagid RS29 pads, Hoosiers 285/30X18 front and 295/30X18 rear, BLING.

The Radical loop is a short 1.5 mile loop that is a great warm up for the full course. This was my first time doing this loop and my best time was 1:24.57. The car is a 2015 M4.

Spring Mountain 3.5 Full Course with bus stop and chicane. After the Viper passes me, a GT3 gives its all to catch the Viper until the GT3 catches fire at the end.

lesson learned: do not try to keep up with Vipers in a GT3

New guy here bit I see that nobody has posted a time for Summit Point Shenandoah. This was my first time out in this car and it was fresh off it's 1200 mile service and bone stock other than the Dinan Stage 1. Definitely needs more front camber as I corded the fronts in 2 days and the brakes clearly weren't up to hot lapping so I had to brake early.

Car: 2016 M3 M6
Track: Summit Point Shenandoah Circuit
Date: 5-15-2016
Best Lap: 1:41.396
Brakes: stock iron brakes and pads
Suspension: Base suspension
Tires: MPSS

FWIW that's only ~3.5s off my best time in my C7 Z06.

Thank you! I was very happy to see that the NT01s are pretty much as easy to slide as the RS3s I had. The only issue I had sliding them was sometimes trying to initiate the drift in 3rd gear instead of second- they have soo much grip. Pretty excited to try out ACS this weekend, I'll see you out there!

What pressures were you running on those?

I have a 275-18 NT01 setup and my tires got greasy later into the day as temps came up to 150F+.

I was running in MDM.

I ran the NT01s at 34 hot that day. They got really greasy after some hard laps back to back. I had to do a cool down lap or two at moderate pace for them to start gripping well again. I feel that if you run the nt01s at a lower hot pressure they get greasy more quickly.

Thanks. Yeh I was running mine into the low 40s by mid day starting at 31-32 cold in the morning. Got pretty greasy even after dropping pressures into the high 30s but like you, it seemed that cool down laps helped a lot.

I really gotta figure out better pressure management.

What I usually do is set the tires to ~27psi cold before my first session of the day. After a warm up lap and a few laps going moderately fast I'll pit and drop pressures to where I want them to be hot. I'll then re check at the end of the session after driving faster, bleeding if necessary. The pressures seem to stay at where I want them to be after each session. You should try out mid 30s on the NT01s, I ran them at 40psi once and they didn't feel too bad and were still pretty fast but there is more grip to be had running them at a lower pressure.

The intermittent cool down laps are helpful for the tires and the brakes as well!

VIR full NASA Hyperfest

Hey F8x guys, the E9x days are not over yet!
Enjoy!

VIR full NASA Hyperfest
Track VIR full
Event NASA TT May 20th/21st 2016
E92 M3 DCT (still street legal)

Best Lap Time: 2:05.23 (Harry's and NASA transponder result)
Tires: Hoosier 295/315
Suspension: KW CS
Other mods: see my signature

Had a good weekend, won 2nd place on Saturday in TT3, was beaten by only 0.25 sec by a Corvette. However my best lap in the afternoon got destroyed by a competitor's blown tire right in front of me. That lap was a virtual time of 2:03:30! Next time...
Car feels great , all mods work. Car is still too heavy (with driver and 3/4 gas) 3655 lbs.
Cheers

Nice lap Jakob66. Are you leaving some time in the Hog Pen, T16-17? Looks like you scrubbed too much speed there based on your exit. Or was that the base line with your car? Either way nice driving

edit: Nvm, I watched it again and it seems fine. There's a few fast lines through there.

Yes, I could have done several things different in this lap and as I said I had a much better attempt later on same day but that lap got destroyed by a competitor.
I still believe 2:05.23 is or at least is close to the street legal E92 M3 track records. I know Josh did 2:03 with a full race prepped E92 M3 GTS3 spec couple years ago.
Other may shim in on this as the historic track data is not conclusive.
Thanks!

Anybody have some baseline times for Auto Club Roval in a 100% stock M4? Looking to see how bad I suck in comparison.
Thanks!

2:07 pretty consistently but was taking it easy. First time ever on a track and was more concerned with self and car preservation rather than time. Some section I thought I was pretty good but the oval and turn 9 were really tough for me to get right consistently. I figure I could identify about 5-7 seconds if I pushed to my personal max. I also notice MDM kicking in a lot so I'm not sure how much that penalized me.

Nice! I feel you on the self and car preservation, it was my first time there yesterday and I was the same way especially without track insurance... ACS has a bunch of walls and that roval is extremely scary at speed.. The last thing I wanted was an epic NASCAR esque crash in front of all the spectators haha. I ran a couple of laps with euro mdm and it was constantly flickering while on the roval and it felt like it was really unsettling the car so I turned it off and ran the rest of the day DSC off feeling much better there. If it was your first day I think it was a good idea to keep MDM on and to focus on being smooth, hitting every apex, and having MDM not intervene. If you're interested in continuing tracking you should look into coding euro mdm to allow a bit more slip.

I ran a 1:55 with a lot of room on the table but my car has TC Kline DA coilovers and nitto nt01 tires. I also have about 11 or 12 track days under my belt. I was having trouble picking consistent braking points and was braking pretty early/too much a lot of the time along with being conservative on the roval. I did have a ton of fun drifting the last couple of sessions though!
