Can someone explain what rasp sound like?

I have f80 comp, akrapovic slip on and akrapovic middle pipe without mid pipe cats, stock downpipes. What kind of downpipe do you suggest?

Thank you

Rasp is the tinny/metallic sound caused by the "pop" running down the exhaust tubing. Most of us use either a single midpipe to allow the pops to expand into a lower tone (due to the big pipe), or we keep a twin pipe setup adding resonators for a similar pop-expansion effect (but keeping the higher tone of the smaller pipe).

I would say try Active Autowerke and pick a single or dual midpipe to pair with your factory rear section muffler. This gets you the rasp or rasp+tone change. After that if you want a more aggressive sound maybe pick a valved rear section (Remus, Dinan, etc).

I like ultra low tone and race-engine note (the old big-block low rumble), so I picked the AA Signature full 3.5in cat back competition exhaust. With catless DPs it would be way too loud, but my sport cats lower it to a reasonable level. With factory DPs it would keep the neighbors happy. Nice thing is valves...drive out to the highway in Efficient (valves closed) and then switch into Sport (open). I like to cruise for races in efficient and only go Sport+ at the first beep...sometimes it shocks them into a late start.

+1 for the active autowerke single midpipe, in my opinion its the best mod to reduce/eliminate rasp
