help me choose a wheel!

Hi All,

I'm having a tough time making up my mind on what wheel to go with...

Some of the wheels I'm considering are at different price points but I'm chasing looks > performance but still would like a light weight wheel. I'm willing to shell out more for the right set. My car is alpine white F82.

1. Titan 7 TS5
2. HRE Classic 300s
3. BBS LM-R
4. BBS LMs
5. Volk TE 37 SL

I'm aware that these are in different price points but I really like the TS5 but same time want a set of BBS for the heritage.

Let me know!

How about two sets of Titan-7 TS5 wheels.
M4 in 18” for 275 fronts and 305 rears for the track.
Vette in stock front and +1/2” width in the rear, replaces the stock wheels that crack.

Completely agree, for me the price was right so it was a no-brainer to get the Titan 7's. If I had the money would definitely go with either the HRE 300 Classics or the BBS LM's. Would lean more to the bbs side though, but that's just me.

Titan wheels are nice, however, they're not JWL/VIA or TUV certified. For a wheel at that price point, I would expect them to be.

All the other wheels you mentioned are of much higher quality. Yes, they are more expensive, but BBS and VOLK have outstanding reputation.

With BBS you absolutely cannot go wrong. LM and LM-R are classic and you will easily be able to recoup most of the cost of you need to sell them. They also sell quickly on the used market.

Dude. These are the same wheels everyone run. All decent wheels. Won’t have an issue with any of these. Plus theres millions of pics on this forum of each. Pick the set you think fits your car best

The JWL mark, cast or forged into the wheel, indicates that the wheel has been self-certified by its manufacturer to meet the standard. There is a related standard, JWL-T, for truck and bus wheels. The Vehicle Inspection Association of Japan (VIA) independently tests wheels for JWL or JWL-T compliance.

This article does a good job of going into detail as well.

I did a lot of research on these wheels, as I was ready to purchase a set myself.

There have been multiple threads about this topic, and Titan has never replied saying anything different.

I was hoping that this information was incorrect, but I have yet to find any information to the contrary.

This article does a good job of going into detail as well.

Yet it's an article from their main competitor. From titan7's extensive involvement of Motorsport and detailed FEA analysis going though each wheel, I would guess the actual certification matters very little in this case. Most likely the factory needs to pay money to get them certified, but they put extensive involvement in the design and QC stages to ensure the quality.

Some interesting read on the titan7 reviews: https://thebuildjournal.com/reviews/...wheels-review/

With respect to the LMs and LM-Rs, I like BBS wheels. Had the original RS on my 240sx and also ran RSIIs back in the day. However, this video about BBS E88s is disappointing as I had always thought BBS wheels were track tested and very durable. While I doubt any of us would ever destroy BBS wheels during normal or even track driving, it is still sad that these very expensive wheels are not nearly as durable as other cheaper wheels.

Anyone buy and spec'd out a new set of rotiforms recently? Curious to see if they're price effective.

And would you guys consider buying a set of 'replicas' (BBS LMs or HRE Classics 300s) if they did their job as "dress shoes" as a compromise to go along with one affordable set of performance wheels?

The question obviously assumes money is a constraint.
