You can stop for 3 minutes every hour or so.

We did a stayover in Stuttgart to break up the 5.5hr trip. Stayed at Erikson Hotel. Clean and basic which is all we needed plus a really nice breakfast included.

I agree! On our ED trip, we did a 6 hour round-trip from Baden-Baden one day so we could do the ring. Wouldn't have missed it.

Definitely to ring. During our May ED we drove from munich to Geneva by way of Nurburg just for the ring.

Definitely go do the ring.... gets you even more seat time in the ride. I'm in a similar boat though...will be going way out of the way just to take a few laps on the circuit.

Cheers,

That's a hop, skip and a jump. Gotta do it. We drove from Chiasso to the ring to Munich in 24 hours.

Keep in mind the route planner assumes some average speed when there is no speed limit (I think 130kmh / 80 mph) so you can handily beat that time of you so early am / late pm drives.

When I used to work in Germany and drove a lot for business, beating gps predicted arrival times was a fun game. Not so much fun in the US.

Once did Berlin-Dortmund in my 320d in about 3:30 (google maps says 5 hrs) late at night without speeding any more than socially acceptable. Good times....

Yep drove from Munich to the 'ring in a little 320i many years ago... It's a long drive, but well worth it.

If you don't want to take your car out there, there's plenty of places who will rent a car to take out.

The 'Ring is bucket list stuff IMO.

Cheers,
matt
