Where did you see that it's 484 HP? I know the car is underrated but I see on the OP it stated 425hp.

I still see the M tax applies since it's $500 more then a x35i platform .
Not quite sure it's a 91hp bump. The numbers you're looking at are comparing apples to kumquats.
Yeah I'm looking at they Dyno right now. And I see how the car is making the 484 Hp.

I mean yeah essentially most cars that have been dynoed so far are coming in at 415-420rwhp that put them in the range of 475-480 crank hp. Yeah the 40 or so hp for $2500 bucks now isn't lookin so hot .

Why do the dyno charts stop at 6500rpm when redline is 7600rpm ?
My guess is the power on FI cars just drops off after 6000 rpm, so they didn't include the dyno up to 7600RPM. That's just a guess.

484 hp stock. Wowza.

And this from someone who has all incentives to keep stock numbers down. Shows the high integrity of Dinan. Respect.

Exactly the apples to apples is the two numbers on the bottom. The 425 at top just says 'BMW Factory rating' but has nothing to do with their dyno numbers.

484 stock vs 518 tuned. 34 flywheel HP.

Was the same way they did it with the N54, shift points were at 6200 to max the power band.

Right pretty much the same with my f30 335i. I honestly can't really feel a seat of the pants difference after 6000k. Feels like a drop off when manually shifting.

It just further confirms how good and at the same time how hard these new Bosh ECU's are hard to work with.

This time BMW has outsmarted everyone. Piggy back tuners will probably remain the only option minus the PPK. Very curious to see what THE m3/4 PPK will offer as far as HP bump.

Interestingly, if you go with a PPK or Comp pkg from BMW, you will still be eligible for the BMW extended warranty, 7yrs/100k. With the Dinan stuff I believe(and pls someone correct me if I'm wrong) you will not have the extended option available. So for long term ownership if you are a warranty kinda guy, it's something you should consider before making a choice. In any event I'll be shocked if the BMW tune offers more performance than the Dinan, but an extended warranty option might be the kicker some need to say BMW loyal.

why are you guys sitting here comparing hp from a dyno? different dynos read different. doesnt dinan also have an engine dyno? meaning rip the engine out of the car and put it in a special room with special stuffs.

at these readings, dont know if you'll feel the 20hps.

What dyno and drivetrain loss estimate did you use to come up with these . Was it an engine dyno ? If it was a chassis dyno would you mind sharing what the WHP was and correction factors used ? Thanks

This ought to be entertaining...

Nice to see Dinan coming out with this pretty quickly.

To Dinan, is 34hp gain in your opinion the safe limit with an otherwise stock car on pump gas or are there other limitations preventing a higher hp number from further increasing boost?

although riding shotgun makes everything feel faster.

As far as your comments on the early shifts, I tend to agree... there is probably not much going on past that mid 6000s mark or the peak is reached within there.
Yeah I suspect Dinan will be tougher to bully with Excel sheets. Especially since they have not used simulation to argue about. The fact that they disclosed the stock dyno numbers instead of just claiming a 91 hp gain from stock deserves huge respect. If I was putting in a tune, this would be on my short list, no doubt.

Anxious to hear some real-world reviews given the traction issues the F8X has with stock power output. The $2500 likely much less than the PPK will be (although I'm sure extras will be thrown in).
