Just saw your current videos. I want to see it once is done and the xpipe is added. i spoke to the guy who does my exhaust here in miami and he knows i am not a crazy LOUD exhaust fan and he recommend me to try the 14158 http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...=main&id=10468 its a bit bigger and with this one he is 99% sure there will be no drone at any gear PLUS the sound will be a bit not so loud and raw and a bit more refined. Only issue is the fit. Can you measure the diameter of the secondary cats? want to make sure the wider portion is less than 6" and that will tell me it will work 100%.

Thanks for the help. Looking forward to see your car finished.

Are you planning to put custom made h pipe?
I did Supersprint mid-pipes and H-pipe. Secondary cats and resonator gone. Sound is brutal with valves open, and very manageable when valves set to OEM operation. I love this solution, and entire cost was under 2k with labor.

Here is quick preview.
One thing I noticed is that it opened up more sound especially top end.
Also, I started to hear more popping noise that I rarely heard with stock resonator in place.
Actual review and driving video will be a while before I have time to do it.

This is great. Wonder what this set up would sound like with DP's.

So you didn't go with the Magnaflow X Pipe? What resonator is the one in the picture?

Thanks Parky, the second picture with the xpipe wasn't showing up, but now it is. I am planning on doing the exact same thing with my stock exhaust and already have all three items. Out of curiousity, about how much did you pay to have the exhaust system removed and have the 3 Magnaflow pieces installed? I am contemplating whether I should take my car to an exhaust shop or take it to a high performance shop that also does exhaust systems. I know that with the second option, I'll be paying about $150/hr to have them do the work.

It was about $200-250 for each job. Total came out to be about $450 for both resonator and x pipe.
However, it should be a lot cheaper if you get both done at the same time.
$300-350 sounds about right for both.

If you take your car to exhaust shop, make sure they do it properly by taking entire exhaust off the car and do welding.
Some may just cut and attach your pieces while exhaust is still on the car.
That will most likely produce inferior welding on hard to reach areas.

Supersprint mid-pipes (secondary cats and resonator delete) with stock downpipes and muffler. CG Precision VSC-2 valve control. First half of video is with the valves set to OEM control (sport mode)...second half with valves set to always open.

This is awesome! I really didn't want to spend over 2k just for an exhaust and this seems to be a relatively cheap way to open up the system a bit. I'll have to talk to an exhaust shop about doing this with a custom install.

Has anyone done an x-pipe in place of the resonator and removed the secondary cats and just replaced them with straight pipes rather than race mufflers? I'm wanting to do this but would like opinions and possibly a sound clip! Thanks.

Parky how do you like the Remus axel back with your setup? Did it change the tones much?

Exhaust note is cleaner with Remus axleback.
It is easier to produce exhaust popping noise across wider upper rpm range. Also, it gives better sounding popping noise.
Gurgling is also more apparent with Remus.
I think exhaust is also slightly louder than stock.
Above is with exhaust valve set to always open.

With valve set to auto mode, it pretty much sounds similar to stock exhaust (quiet) with slightly deeper and more gurgling characteristic to it when not mashing the gas pedal.

Overall, I am very satisfied with it.
However, as most people mentioned in other threads, I think Remus will only sound good and significantly different from stock when combined with either Remus midpipe or modified midpipe. Otherwise, you will have secondary cats and stock resonator dampening too much sound even before reaching to Remus axleback.

Drone-wise, it is very similar to stock when comparing both with exhaust valve always open. Drone is not present if I setup the exhaust valve to factory auto mode.

Parky,

Nice work on all of this again. Do you have any video of driving around or any pass bys? Debating doing the x pipe. I wanted to do a muffler delete like I did on my e90 but I'm worried that with the flaps open there is already most of the sound going straight out, bypassing the muffler. I just loved being able to crack them open a little or half way or all the way. Bummer you can't do this with stock valves.

By the way the cars and coffee I was talking about was in Camarillo. I ran it and it was usually BMWs of all kinds, but was open to anyone who loves cars.
