Crazy! What were the symptoms when you spun and what were you doing leading up to it?

(Sorry didn’t see that you already answered this!)

Good luck op!

No need to be secretive about it. People are just asking for that info to help add to the data here regarding the SCH.

I was doing pulls with my buddies for a little. On the way home I did one last pull and around 120mph I just heard a pop and the car started making a noise that sounded almost like a rattling raspy exhaust. Didn't sound like knocking. Pulled over and it would not crank over, motor had 0 compression. Thats kind of all of it.

i would just bring the car to dealer and tell them to check. if they do ask, just be honest. if they want to cover it, you win. if they dont cover it, ask for a discount. they would help. but if you lie 1st, SA found out and they might not want to help you on discount

Why would you be willing to go to the trouble and cost to change the ECU but not repair the damage?

Good luck. Mine spun, was upfront with the dealer (DPs and stage 2), and they denied it. Said no goodwill and never offered a discount. I usually take the car to my local independent shop and they replaced the hub (aftermarket) and re-timed the motor. All good now. Mine would still crank just no boost whatsoever....your pop, rattle, and no turning over would be a little more worrisome as this is an interference engine, thus if timing slips enough you can have pistons hitting valves (usually not the case though).

Yeah I think pistons are hitting valves. Plus the motor makes 0 compression. Sounds like a compression test when I try to start it. I might just know someone who can pull strings at my local dealer. Fingers crossed but not keeping my hopes up too much.

It's hard for me to agree more with your posts in this thread

I have a CS and guess what, I track it with a 100% stock engine and exhaust. Why? Because I don't want to buy a new engine.

If my crank spins then BMW will cover it. Because my car is stock.
Someone running full E and with downpipes is making what, 550whp?

Just because 'everyone does something' doesn't make it right. And not everyone does, BTW. It's fraud, there's a reason why it's penalized.

The problem is that BMW shouldn't pay warranty for an issue that wasn't caused by them. If it is a known design flaw, then they should pay for the repair regardless. A tune, in my opinion, is often a scapegoat so they don't have to fix known issues. And this is no different.

come on guys; if yall want to stand on your moral high horses cool. but we aint talking about beating and raping someone for their race.

BMW is a faceless multinational corporation just like everyone they don't give a fly fuck about you; so why should you.

Is it fraud when BMW changes my wipers every year? it all adds up.
changing my cabin filter at 30k. adds up (car smells worse after new cabin filter) maybe they bill BMW an just swap out peoples cabin filters. who knows.

i get the both sides to it; but its a fucked up world. gotta get yours when you can.

the crankhub is a known issue on this platform. a simple tune in a 70k track car should not have a weak point like that. its grey; but cant hurt a man for trying.

its just like healthcare. people on medicaid got to the ER for stomach aches. and get ibuprofen. the waste is astronomical.

if i go straight to the ER i get penalized because I didn't use cheaper options

backwards as hell but so it goes.

.
So now running full ethanol -which should void warranty all by itself- and downpipes, adding 40% of power to the car... is a 'simple tune' and should be covered?

Wow
