No not the case. And that was one of the points of this thread. When you shift from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd at redline, RPM falls below the 5500rpm power plateau.

See chart below that I posted in post #195. You can see the power drop between the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. That curve was done with the "official" power chart from BMW. The plots obtained on the "better" (read more reliable) dynos tend to indicate that the power keeps climbing past 5500 and the power plateau starts more in the 6000rpm range. This means that even more average power is lost and tighter ratios would have been more beneficial.
