Passive Suspension stiffness?

Please pardon me if this has been addressed; I have not seen it. Does anyone know what the 'standard' setting will be if you don't get the M-Adaptive Suspension? I suppose there is some speculation involved, but what's your best guess??

We'll see when the car comes out. My guess is that it would have to be on the most stiff, or sport plus... ??

I am guessing somewhere between setting 2 and 3 on adaptive suspension.

There is no setting of an active suspension that is equivalent to a passive suspension, strictly speaking (well, unless it were programmed to be non-active in some setting, which the non-ZCP E9x M3 admittedly was in the Sport Plus mode).

That said, for the E9x M3 the consensus was that without EDC, the car felt and handled roughly like a car with EDC set to the Sport setting. I think we can expect the same this time around.

The irony in all of this is that I will likely never adjust a thing. All of these adjustments and no adjusting going on. LOL!

I like the adjustability I have now in my M I couldn't live without that option

But that is the best part about having the options!! Having the optionality, regardless of how often it is/isn't exercised. Better to have than not have!

I think I played with EDC for about a week in my '08 M3. The two E9X M3's that followed got one fiddle session and I never touched it again. They were some really unhappy women..........you know....with no fiddling and stuff.

Haha, yeah me too probably! I'll find the setting I like and there it shall stay.

Not if you're going coilover later. But it is good for the city. Used to always change them around. Now with kw cs the edc connectors are sitting in a box in storage. And i just click the edc error message everytime i drive.

I would totally change it to "comfort" when I have passengers in the car, and set it back to the stiffest mode when I am driving alone. And then change it back to "comfort" when I have to go over speed bumps in parking garages.

I purposely leave it stiff so that nobody ever asks me to drive again.

I love when people exclaim, "Your car is too stiff for daily driving!" Keeps my seats nice and new.

I actually do the opposite. I put EDC on the stiffest setting to minimize suspension travel, this helps preventing the car bottoming out and hitting the speed bump.

I'm on the fence on this option. The benefit is that damping is adjustable on the fly. The drawback is that it's added complexity, electronics, weight, and cost.

I just want the suspension which allows maximum adjustability and alignment options, and minimum understeer. It's not clear to me whether Adaptive M Suspension fits that criteria.

Do we know whether ride height is lowered with AMS? Is the description largely the same as that on the regular 4er?
