Will the M2 Competition upgraded steel brakes option fit the M3/M4?

nope I had the stock blue 4 pot calipers. I bought a used set of CCB calipers

Any change to the booster, or straight forward swap of rotors and calipers? Notice any negative feel to the brakes?

No change to the booster for steel rotors. Yes it is a straight forward swap no custom work needed. No negative feel to the brakes. The front end feels a touch heavier from the heavier rotors but the brakes are much better with the 6 piston front and 4 piston rear calipers. I also put in braided stainless steel brake lines when I did the swap.

Front rotors: 34118072017/18
Rear rotors: 34118072019/20

The F8X rear rotors don't really work. The gold calipers brake pads don't cover the entire surface area of the rotor.

Those are the P/N of the M2 ZCP rotors.

And the 4-piston calipers do work with the F8x rear rotors if you select the right pads. Again, that’s moot now with the M2 ZCP rear rotors and correct pads.

There is a difference as the base M2 ZCP rear rotors is the same as the F8X rear rotor. But the Sport Brake Kit rear rotors I was given part number 34118072019/20. Please help me confirm. Thanks.

I am using the OEM M2 Sport Brake kit rear pads and it doesn't cover the entire rotor. Maybe I need to go aftermarket pads, but that sucks because I am also using OEM M5 front pads.

I am guessing the design and shape of the M2 sport Brake kit rear pads have to be used with the Sport brake kit rear rotors.

My mistake, correct P/N is 34118072019/20 ZCP for rear rotors.

Note that outside the USA, the M2 ZCP come standard with the same F8x brakes. What the ETK calls M Sport Brake kit is optional outside the USA, standard in the USA.

Front rotors in the M2 ZCP are 400mm x 36mm, rear rotors are 380mm X 28mm. P/N for the rotors include the size dimensions in their description so no confusion.

The rotors are different in diameter, thickness and more significant, the radius of the hat. That is what you see when the 4-piston caliper is fitted to the 370mm rotors -the hat radius is smaller than in the 380mm rotor by more than the 10mm difference in diameter. So the Sport pad is missing more than 10mm of rotor contact surface. This fact is not unusual as you may see the same lack of total contact surface in the CCB rotors with these calipers. It cannot be easily noticed just because the rotors are dark grey and the area without pad contact looks almost the same as the rest of the rotor. In the iron rotor the non-contact area will be covered in rust in no time. Braking difference is negligible.

There are other pads that fit those 4-piston calipers that can reduce that non-contact area by 5-8mm. This may have worked before, but now the proper way is to replace the 370mm rotors with the 380mm.

Great info. Thanks. I will be ordering the 380mm rear rotors. Even though the braking difference is negligible. The lack of total contact coverage with the OEM pads has my OCD on overdrive. Not to mention the rust build up that will accumulate on the inner ring of the 370mm rotors.

Got my car back from the dealer: changed the 4 standard blue calipers to the ccb calipers (front + back) and the M2 competition discs + pads on my F83. No coding, no change of brake pump and everything works like from the factory. Total cost around 7000€ with new parts from the dealer.

I got a quote today for the full M performance sport brakes from my BMW M specialist. The red set is at least 1.000euro's cheaper as a package then bought everything separately... But the main question is; how good are they on track when comparing them with the standard blue brakes (both fitted with track pads and different brake oil)?

Did you use the M2 comp brake pads? So the CCB calipers and M2 comp calipers are the same except?

Any one on the fence about ordering the kit. Just do it. The car stops so so much better. Using upgraded pads and fluid with the bigger brakes is a game changer.
