Doc Race S55 turbo kit

Are there any solid reviews on this kit yet? Does anyone have it on their car in the wild and willing to share their thoughts? I tried searching already and found nothing.

I'm seriously on the fence between this kit and the KRATOS turbos and I need to make a decision soon.

just go with Kratos? Why Chance it with a turbo that isn’t as well reviewed and praised?

That’s expensive too.

I went with pure 2+ but Kratos is the next step after that

I agree and I decided on Kratos

Actually the KRATOS and Doc Race kits are the same price (with the turbo option I wanted) if I'm not mistaken.

What steered me away from the Doc Race kits was the deletion of the wastegate actuators. Open dumps would've sounded really nice, but I wanted ease of operation and installation. The KRATOS turbos have also been proven and virtually bulletproof so far.

Everything can happen. My friend weren't that lucky with the kratos turbos. They had to be rebuilt when he got them..

According to Kratos there hasn't been any documented failures of these to date. At least as of the week before last.

This is the FIRST I've ever heard of a failure with Kratos turbos, are you sure your friend didn't have a different brand?

I have a customer who has his car at Doc Race, the car should be wrapped up pretty soon. I would wait to see the results before deciding on anything

You do realize these are two way different options right? One fits like factory and the other is a welded tubular manifold, external wastegates, etc..., that was made by hand, so there will be variation from unit to unit. This is comparing a boutique custom shop vs something in production.

Doc Race does give you the option for a vast number of different turbo sizes, which is nice, but not always super necessary unless you are doing something outside the norm.

I will also mention I sent an email for some information on the Doc Race kit to them months ago and never received a reply which would rule them out for me right off. This isn't that uncommon for small one man band sort of shops though. If their customer service is like that for someone looking to purchase imagine what it would be like if there was an issue. Just my .02 worth.

I agree. Unless you are looking for some sort of one off built system, why not go with one of the established plug and play systems???

This is very true and after lots of research, I would prefer something more plug and play. Kratos reached out to me right away and it looks like I'll be going that route
