I was informed just a sec ago, this sat is the seasons last one! we are around still, and we can set up our M crew CC, those guys know me already well enough not to laugh at my face when they see what kiddos can do in a week to a car.

I've had a lot of winter and A/S tires here in Seattle and I say anyone sticking with summer tires in the winter here is either a fool or doesn't mind driving very cautiously (ie: grandma) a good portion of the season. I had PA4s on my E90 and damn if they weren't just the finest winter tires in existence. A great winter compliment to PSS. If you can figure out a size that works for you, they are excellent. Sottozero II is a fair second choice.

I don't want to use the other car to handle snow, I bought this to enjoy it, and I might as well do the work and find the shit that won't turn my poor baby into a skate. Hell, maybe even Nokia has something to offer, tomorrow I'll finally have the bloody time to tackle this matter.

I just skated through a school run. I'm doing the adult thing today and go get new rims and tires both for the winter to come and for the summer miles yet to do.
By coffee I swear I will not destroy an other set of rears by Christmas, or I'll glue the tc button to keep it on at all times.

I went all adult in this! I asked an advice, actually listened, and now I have new set of rears coming in for the end of the season, winter ones have been flipped through, Nokia has apparently nothing so I have to shut up and take the suggestion again. Damn i hate the feeling I get when I really do not know my shit.

Sorry, I've been away for a while ... had a wedding thing going on.
I've been married for 2 weeks now! I'm waiting on a set of winter wheels (actually from Morr), and need to find tyres for them when they arrive.. or when they ship, so I know what they are. Long story that I'm not going to write on here. My experience with snow driving is amusing. I've done so in many cars, including my '72 Challenger, in England. Somwhere, there's an out-take from local news saying "ERR'BODY GONNA DIE! NOBODY CAN GET TO THE SHOPS TO BUY FOOD. ROAD CHAOS! SNOWPOCALYPSE"... and then my car slides sideways into a parking space behind them, and I get out to go buy dinner in an entirely normal manner. They had to re-film it, because apparently, having a 70s muscle car showing up and parking in the background and not getting stuck on the roads somewhere is somewhat undermining to that message. That said, last year I had a surprise in the M5 - the snow came down unexpectedly for me when I was in the theater watching Spamalot. Unfortunately for me the mrs had not got ready on time - something had delayed her getting home before we went out, and my idea was "I'll get fuel on the way back". We parked with about 10 miles of fuel left in the tank. I was in Seattle, I live at the other end of 520. I was on Summer tyres. I ended up having to get fuel at the station at the bottom of Denny, and then drive all the way up Denny, on to I-5 South to I-90, because the extra cars keep the road warmer, so it's only wet there, not snowy, then 405 North, and then onto 520. Getting to the end of 520 we find that as traffic is getting to its exit there's fewer cars to keep the road warm, so we get to just tracks in the snow... and then to tiptoeing through slush in a fucking expensive car on summer tyres with all the other people you don't trust to go a sensible speed ahead and behind you... I went to the 202 exit and used surface streets because the 202 exit is nice and flat, with little slope. |

I want to see the rims when you get them! Also, which rubber is going under it? I decided today on my school run that my new rears are going to stay new till spring. I won't risk peter for a few bucks, so I better do this today and go get myself a new set to install to the rims I have now. It's not that I mind dying in a horrible crash, I just don't want to be the one who's fault it is. When ever Mrs and Mr Cheese are over the wedding stress, let's meet up at our usual, extremely well hidden place and I want to hear all about the wedding. Hell, I'll buy the coffee even as long as you talk the Mrs also into coming!

Well, the fridge is pretty empty. Not sure what's going on tonight - it's usually a gym day but my back's hurting. Tomorrow's a possibility. I'll text...
Edit to add: Morr's SpunForged FS77 will be my winter wheels. Just got to confirm that it'll be 20x9.0 for all 4, which I'll do after shipping, and see what winter rubber I can find to find that. |

How long do you all run winters in the Seattle area?
Car is due in 2-3 weeks, and I'm thinking having winters on through March is a good idea (always had all-seasons before this). OR...I brave Feb/Mar on the summer tires (cringe) and save the purchase for next winter. Did I mention I'm a cheap bastard? FWIW I'm leaning towards the Michelin Alpin4 tires (245/45/18). |

Hahaa, my tires are paid for and still in the shop. Lets just say the last two moths have been a bit busy.
