Help me decide

I spotted a 2017 DCT F80 comp, lighting, executive package for $43999
42K miles, no accidents per carfax and about $7000 below KBB price.
It is not from BMW dealership or CPO but still has warranty on it

Other one i found was a 2016 DCT F80 comp, lighting, executive, driver assist packages for $43400 with 39K miles but is CPO with warranty.
This is in line with KBB

I would get the 2017 non CPO inspected first but do these seem like good prices? I know the carfax is not always correct if the shops dont report

both cars are priced several thousand under market so it would come down to condition, color combo and whichever appeals to you more.

Mileage is a bit on the high end I would say. Having said that, an inspection may yield great results.

Thanks. The colors are different but I am not to picky with color, buying more so the engine and performance
Maybe the 2017 is best if inspection checks out

A quick Google Search indicated that average mileage is ~13,500. Mileage is slightly above average on the 2017 (13.5* 3 = 40,500 < 42,500 miles) but significantly lower on the 2016 (13.5 * 4 = 54,000 > 39,000) without factoring in the production month. I only have 32,800 miles on my April build 2016 M4 but I'm also retired, so it doesn't get driven daily. If the higher mileage car was driven mostly on the freeway, that's not a big factor. I would also compare the CPO warranty on the 2016 against the remaining warranty on the 2017.

Your average M car is going to be driven less and thus have lower average yearly mileage compared to the average of all vehicles.

My perception is that lots of owners here, probably more than half, use their M as a daily driver. Seems like for many, it's their only car if they're single and one of two cars if they're married. Hard for many not to accumulate average mileage if they're using it as a daily driver. See the thread "What does the spouse of an M3/M4 owner drive?" for reference. I'm not seeing many mention third cars. YMMV.

Go research how many 2015's have over 70k miles vs. your average car.
