Rear Diff update ***HAPPY ENDING***

Rear diff delivered this morning, part is destroyed so have to wait another two weeks. About to call the dealer and tell them to keep the car. Maybe 911 is what I need to get, disappointed is not even close to how I feel.

Man that sucks, sorry to hear about your issue there. It would suck to see you leave BMW and go to Porsche though. Are you even able to do that? Can they take the car back under a lemon law?

Have you had a discussion with your dealer about how they are going to make this right for YOU?

A failed part is one thing. An unexpected and prolonged delay due to supply chain issues is another.

I have no idea but tired of the run around and the monkey business BMW is putting me through! I have been so patient and nice and now this? 80k for a fucking 2 day drive with 200 miles and have to wait a month to drive it. BMW if your reading this, ship that part directly to my house on a private jet

This doesn't happen to just BMW. When I first got my Audi S4 in 2010 the rear differential failed the first day. After waiting over three weeks for a new one from Germany I looked up NJ lemon laws and you can have a car declared a lemon if its in the shop for a certain number of days (I forget how many) no matter what the reason. I told the dealer that if I don't have the car within a month of buying it, I will have returned as a lemon. Interestingly enough it was repaired within two days after that.

But I totally understand your frustration, especially on something you have gotten very excited about before purchasing it.

30 days out of commission equals Lemon in most states. Sorry about the bad luck. I'd have a sour taste over the car and be done with it too.

Trying to get up to speed on this... sounds like an unfortunate situation that you're in. What signs did you see that indicated that the diff bad?

Yeah, I think simply discussing with them the timeline and asking their opinion on lemon law considering their current expectations is a reasonable discussion at this point. You aren't impinging the dealer - they'd fix it tomorrow if they could - you are impinging BMW and asking for the dealer to work with you and hopefully keep your business with them.

Maybe there's some equivalently equipped M3 with no current buyer somewhere they can get a hold of and put you in. Who knows.

I understand how you feel. When I purchased the M3 back in 2009, my car spent about two to three months the first year for various warranty issues. Mostly electronic problems. I was pissed because I was paying $1350 a month not being able to drive my car.

But after all that bullshit, the car was very reliable. Though they had to replace a junction control box or something or other costing me about a grand after warranty ended. If you can, get out now. Or at least have them replace it.

Working on a buy back as we speak. Time to find another car either m3/m5 or go to the 911 rout.

This is the risk we all take enjoying elite BMW's. Your parts espically in new cars are in another country. Not only does it take time to ship it here you have to rely on a commercial carrier to take care of the items on the way.

If this is just frustration and wanting to drive your new baby I get it.... If your really thinking of switching brands buy a domestic mfg part, so you can get your parts quicker and hopefully in one piece.

So sorry to hear about this I would be livid as well with what you are going through and hope things workout to stay with an M3.

What was your build again? Would you go for any other color combos if it was equipped as you wanted? I am aware of a few available in stock cars in our region that might workout for you and can send an email blast. I learned a lot during ED and made some good dealer connections.

these days all dealers suck, not just BMW.

I had a disasterous experience with a BMW dealer on one of my cars here in Houston. I also had shitty service with other dealers, including Audi.

Customer service at dealers and their desire to get out of paying for anything / doing any work is disgusting these days.

Best case is to hope BMW does a better job here, I doubt things would be better with Porsche if a part failed honestly.

Best of luck

Oh man that sucks. So two more weeks for the three already waited? They are not going to compensate it to you in any way? Just point me at them, I'll bite! I have had a shitty morning as it is, damn I hate happy people!
