IMO BMW pulled of the understated, but yet aggressive look much better than MB.

I really don't like the rear end of the C63 and the red accent stripes on the wheels and front air intake. Not with dark grey anyway. It would look much better on black, dark blue or white.

I think the interior is the same as the exterior, which in my opinion is confusing. It is nicer in ways over the F8X, but also think it is overdone here as well. A lot going on in there with a bunch of shiny stuff. As somebody else mentioned, I am also not a fan of the diamond stitched seats.

It is good to have choices as obviously everybody has different tastes. Overall I'm sure it is an excellent car.
I agree with this. I think the regular C300/C400 cars fit the design a lot better than an AMG car does. Along that line of thinking though, the design language fits much better on an S-Class than a C-Class.

The M3/M4, on the other hand, look quite a bit better compared to their regular counterparts.

Of course the best option is to keep the M3/4 and just swap out the C63's V8 TT and killer interior. That motor tuned with mild mods is going to produce some real power.

Exterior sucks, not aggressive at all.

Interior is beautiful! Coming from someone who loves the interior of the m3.

I'm sure it'll be a fast car but meh... For that kind of money, I rather get a panamera, this car screams fast comfortable luxury sedan, not luxury street fighter like the m3.

Personally, the exhaust argument is just stupid, you think the m3 doesn't sound good? open the valves, it's a new exhaust, then add down pipes, then it becomes a mean ass exhaust, then switch it to one of many exhausts that are available if your still not happy.

As far as the S trim... You can bet your ass BMW is gonna have a reworked engine tune for the comp pack. This comp pack is gonna be way more robust. So for a car that is already faster than the c63 at its own game, in a straight line, with a pending comp pack version which will like have engine tuning putting out 40-50 more hp, your looking at two cars that almost don't fall in the same category.

Don't even get me started on the transmission, 6mt or dct vs an automatic.

The C63 is admirable, the M3 gets my money all day.

We got the car back on the road today. There was a clip that came off a coolant hose which caused all of the coolant to leak out.

The weather wasn't great today, so we couldn't do much with comparisons. We decided to head to the scales to get an idea of how much they weigh. Here's the results.

M3

1620 kgs = 3571 lbs

C63S

1820 kgs = 4012 lbs

Difference of 200 kgs = 441 lbs

Options that affect weight with the M3:
- 6MT
- CF roof
- Full leather
- 19" wheels
- Steel brakes
- Catless downpipes
- Full tank of gas

Options that affect weight of the C63s:
- Panoramic roof
- 19" wheels
- AMG performance seats
- CCB
- 3/4 tank of gas

So to correct the gas issue ( Some will argue)for the C63s ( A Gallon of gas is about 6lbs x 4.5=27 additional pounds for the C63s for a 3/4 tank)

Correct is 4039 for the C63s.

M3 has the Exec Pack/LEDs- I wonder how much the catless makes a difference.
Does the M3 have HK?

Also the M3 has Exec Pack. Would be safe to say the M is loaded minus, DCT and Carbons?

A clip that wasn't checked by a mechanic, idiots...
Thanks for the updates.
I gotta be honest, that AMG has some real presence, it is starting to look very handsome, it's not aggressive but it has a refined muscular stance. 400 plus pounds is a lot and the auto tranny and column shifter are two details that are hard to swallow.
This car will be fast and when tuned will be a monster, but with it's skinny tires and shallow fenders, straight line performance will be where it shines most....but in all honesty that is what 80%(if not more) of buyers just do with these cars(M3/4 & AMG), just go straight.....to Walmart, dinner, mall, cars & coffee, work, school.....

M3 has HK. M3 is loaded minus DCT, CCB, and tech pack (lane change assist, HBA, front facing cam)

C63 is loaded with Burmester sound.

[QUOTE=azzurro;17907688]One of these is my next car. I'm currently driving a 2013 335i M Sport and the Mercedes C63 AMG got my attention. Why? V8 vs. I6, 469 HP vs. 425, 4.0 0-60 vs. 4.1.
Handling, I don't know.

Didn't Jeremy Clarkson describe the C63 as, "an axe murderer trying to kill me?"

Wow, the C63 weighs a bit more than my RS5, which is also fully loaded plus AWD.

Not very encouraging....

Awesome....thanks guys.

We won't know the true C63S weight until we find out the pano weight. Guesstimates are anywhere from 88 lbs to 220 lbs. The former is from about 7 years ago and the latter might be on the high side.

Thanks for the weight numbers

IMHO the C looks great, a great blend of elegance and brutality. I can see the M3's exterior being too "in your face" for some, though it's my choice between the two cars since I prefer the more aggressive exterior and it comes in stick, despite the C's superior exhaust note.

I was curious and found that 2007 Benz thread about Pano roof weight.
- 220 lbs was a misunderstanding from reading a euro spec. the weight was not that of the roof but how much weight you can max add to the roof on roof racks etc.
- The real added weight of the roof was confirmed by AMG to be 88 lbs.
- The car in question was an E55.

So it was a larger car/roof with older or the same tech that weighed 88 lbs. I doubt the C63's is heavier.

I agree...there's no way a panoramic sunroof could add 220 lbs to the weight of the car. Even if the glass is 1/4" thick, I doubt it weighs much more than 30 lbs plus plus added equipment and motors. Subtract the base weight of the metal you remove, and the difference is smaller than most people seem to think. It certainly is nowhere near 220 lbs. Same with the moonroof vs carbon roof on the f8x.

Nice to see some real world number on the AMG.. I'd like to know how the weight differs between the M and the AMG on highways and back roads.
