I picked my car up yesterday and all I can say about cold start with valves open on MPE is that it's insane, awesome, intoxicating. It makes the car sound like a beast (not obnoxious).

I dont have the MPE, but I do keep my M3 in the garage. I recently moved to the neighborhood and I haven't spoken much to my neighbor. Landlord said he was going through a divorce, so I havent forced conversation. He normally drives a VW Golf, but two weeks ago he had a brand new 911 Turbo S Cab in the driveway. I saw him yesterday as I was throwing trash out and I started talking to him about the 911. Turns out he is an engineer for Porsche and borrowed it for a few days. Told him I had driven my first Porsche a few weeks ago and it was amazing! Told him I had an M3, but I would trade up in a heartbeat for a 911 Turbo if I could afford it. His response:

"I know...I hear it every morning"

After reading your comment, every time I play the video all I can think about is a boat sputtering in the water....

I want to hear the MPE in person... I am sure it sounds good... but I would be afraid that my neighbors might not appreciated it especially since I go work very early in the morning!

Thanks for the video...

With valves closed and cold start, it's not all that much worse than the factory exhaust in the same conditions. I would rate the neighbor annoyance level as the same or perhaps 1-5% higher.

Now if you opened the valves... you might want to start planning your move.

Thanks... Good to know... And I am guessing by the video you can control the valve position from inside the car... I like my neighbors and want to keep them liking me as well... No need to rock the boat when we are in smooth waters...

I really want to hear some of these exhaust notes in person... Maybe this might be on my short list...

dsm918 is using a controller that works through the buttons on the rear-view mirror. Without that, you can start in efficient throttle and the valves will be closed. Switching to Sport or Sport+ will generally open the valves (they still close under certain conditions).

Thanks for the clarification... Nice to know... I am guessing the controller is an extra charge... And how does it effect the garage door opener buttons....?

+1. Also just to clarify, the car gets in efficient mode by default. You don't need to do anything.

The CG precision valve controller comes with 2 remotes but alternately you can program it in your garage openers. I have programmed it in #2 and 3. I use #1 as my garage opener.

Great demonstration. CG also provides a key fob in case your homelink buttons are taken up. Plus you get to specify the default start up mode between factory, always open, and always closed.

I also bought it because it's the best module I've seen. It's easy to install, simple to set up, and can be removed when it's time to sell/return the car.

Hey guys, new to this forum, 1st post..

Ordered an f82 with mpe and I have question about the valves...
I understand in sport/sport plus they fully open and from a previous comment that was left here, you have to blip the throttle.. my question is if you're driving in sport/sport plus, would the module make any difference or will the valves always be open since you're applying throttle?

The valves stay partially to fully open in Sport mode depending on throttle input. Same thing in Sport plus except they tend to easily slip into full open mode when you give throttle as compared to Sport. But in either of those modes, the valves will always partially or fully close when your rpm's drop like when cruising or just staying off the throttle. But with the valve controller once you have the valves open they will stay 100% open regardless of throttle input.
