Insurance Rates

I am searching for insurance quotes ahead of time for my M4. Which insurance companies do most forum members have for their M cars with the best coverage and most reasonable price? I am waiting for a quote from my current insurance company but would like to price shop around.

I have Progressive & they're giving me a quote. They said it'll be a few days. But it's for an M3, not an M4. I imagine for a couple it'll be more. I'm hoping *fingers crossed* it'll be cheaper than my 135 due to more doors haha.

I also have progressive and in the same boat. We did do a comparable against the last model M3 so I have some idea. They also sent me their snapshot ODBII thing for my two existing cars to try and get them some data to reduce my total possible costs - overall, they seem to be trying to get me what they can. Worth checking out.

My rough quote for a '15 M3 is $200 more a year. I thought that wasn't bad at all

avg of $5/month not bad, Thought it would be lower because this car is a 6 cylinder vs 8 but then the "Turbo" thing adds some $$ too

you mean a 200 increase on existing coverage that you have for the 135i that you are keeping? That still seems damn low, but good job!

yes, only $200 a year increase. It's above avg coverage and $100 comp/$500 liable deduct. I am getting rid of the 1 for the M though. they couldn't give me an exact amount until I have a VIN.

nice nice, thanks for the info. It'll be interesting to see how these all get priced out for everyone.

My best quote is with Liberty Mutual so far $179.80 / month (rough estimate I guess, without VIN).
I have no clue if this is good or bad... considering that I don't really have a credit score yet probably I have to live with it.

If I compare it to my German insurance: I'd only have to pay 2 months and that was it for the year.

I'm keen on knowing about other offers that could be interesting for someone who owns the first car in the states.

Geico lets you quote a 2015 M3 Coupe, my quote came out to be the same as my Landcruiser.

For those in California, try Wawanesa insurance.
They have very good rate. I think you need to have good driving record in order to join.

I would not plug in anything that they send you. Read this first.

+1 for Wawanesa. They only cover people in California and Oregon, but I've been really happy with them. Amazing rates, but yes, they're extremely picky when it comes to your record.

haha good catch and thanks for the link. I've actually used the snapshot before when they first came out, had an incident where the data would have actually helped me and the claims folks weren't able to pull it, but I could definitely see how they might want to for any number of other things. I'm not worried about it anyway for the cars I have it plugged into - they're mostly sitting around while I'm driving other vehicles/taking public transpo

Well the F80's have a EDR (event data recorder) on board, so Big Brother will be watching. They state its for statistical purposes only. Yeah right.

Why are people freaking out about the EDR? This has been in cars for many years and as of model year 2015 its required by US law for auto makers to have it installed. It's mainly for the insurance companies, and even then a very small percent of them ever get checked. Not a big deal...

Farmers for me. Not sure what we pay a month but they have been awesome.

Just be careful with a lot of the cut rate insurance companies bc they won't replace your damaged parts with new OEM BMW parts..Make sure you get in writing from your insurance provider that in case of damage you "only" want new OEM BMW parts for replacement.
