Having a hard time choosing between GT-R and M4

I know they are two different animals. I have an M4 on order but I recently got to see a GT-R and really liked it and started to lookup info about it and how it is built. The thing is a beast!
Some input from you guys is greatly appreciated!!!!

I've driven both. I decided years ago I'd never buy a R34 GTR. Performance is there, but BMW is more refined.
Also to me that chassis is way bigger than it needs to be.

Good thing, because it's almost impossible to get a r34 legally. I have both and my gtr gets driven more fwiw.

drive both and see if the GTR's performance envelope is enough for you to overlook its lack of amenities / comfort over the M4

Dealer is taking 5500.00 off. Will see.

What I was looking for is reliability of the GT-R and how well it holds. Hand built engine and precision.
I went online and found zero bulletins open for 2015/16 they seem to have this car dialed great.
They had a few issues between 09/11.
I'm wanting to buy a car and keep it and not need to mod it.

If you don't mind the interior and relative high maintenance compared with the M4, then go for it.
The GT-R is bordering on the high side of legendary and it's performance is supercar level. The vehicle has presence and commands respect in our enthusiast environment, and even though it says Nissan, average people who bother to even notice cars will assess that their's something "different" about this Nissan, and old men in their Porsches will take note when you are near.

I love the GT-R, it's still a dream car of sorts. I can afford the car but mainly the maintenance and secondary the outdated interior makes me shy away for the time being.
In five years I'll be a nice minty 2015 or Porsche 991 GT3 to grow old with.

Thank you sir.
Mind explaining to me the maintenance part?
When I talked to the manager at Clay Cooley he told me nothing more than routine 5 k miles maintenance intervals and 89.95 oil changes...

For GTR? That discount should be more like 15k, these cars are sitting on the lots w discounts.

Yeah, right. That's how much oil changes cost for my Evo X. Anyway, oil changes isn't the only costs associated with this car. Sounds like you need to do a lot more research on what you're getting into.

So my buddy bought a 2015 GTR the same time I bought my M3. This was about 6 months ago, he is already bored of the GTR. He has 6000 miles on it, and the passenger Turbo is leaking oil. He definitely stretched himself to purchase the GTR so he is very worried. He performs his own oil changes and he said its easy to perform the oil changes other than taking the under tray on and off.

I have posted this before but from a roll me and him were dead even. From a dig he beat me by like 50 million car lengths :-) .

He said the car is not great to drive on a daily basis, it is very loud and noisy, and the brakes bite in hard, so you are always getting jolted forward when stopping.

I would say if you want a manual stick shift car get the M4. If you want an automatic, all out speed at any moment get the GTR. I think they are both cars, just depends what you will use them for.

Thanks for the info.
I ordered a DCT M4, I think it drives great, based on my test drive, and I am a die hard MT guy based on all my previous cars (2008 911 C4s, 2008 911 997 TT, 2008 C6 Corvette...) the list goes on 90+ cars, Yes I am an addict!

I am having a hard time convincing myself that I will be satisfied with the M4 and simply keeping it giving my history.

Your list is very similar to mine (see sig for most recent ones). I've had the M4 since November. I love it and enjoy it so much more than my GTR I had (granted my GTR was a 2010 and I understand they aren't as noisy now). Still, the fit and finish and interior layout is far superior in the M4 with nearly the same performance. The GTR has more of a gawk factor (couldn't give two shits about that myself....some do).

The only other combo I contemplated was selling my 4Runner for something newer (new F150, Tundra or X5) to use as a DD and getting a Cayman S or Boxster S.

I dont know if this is still the case, but a little while back on cars.com, you could find new gtr's in the 80s.

this just about sums it up for me. love the GT-R in so many ways, but it's too long in the tooth at this point for me to have considered it (mostly the interior).

I'm very interested in how much they will be able to raise the bar again with the next gen. when the R35 came out back in 2008 or 2009 (whenever it was), it was like a nuke had been dropped in the supercar world. I doubt they'll be able to change the game as much this time around, but no doubt it will be a huge leap forward.

Wow!
That's messed up. Watched the entire clip until the end, very disappointing.

I crossed shopped the same cars.. Went with the M3... The GTR is going to be a money pit... Oil changes and dont forget the tires.... Plus if you want to mod the tax to mod them is higher than the M3/M4.... I would really test drive both and see which one fits your situation and wants.
