Key Fob upgrade

I recently purchased a 2016 M4 6MT and one of the first things I did was the ID4 to ID6 update from BIMMER-REMOTe.

After little thought, I decided to upgrade my spare key fob however at a fraction of the cost to what is being charged by vendors. Parts and cost are below.

Aluminum key from EBay: $23 (434/433 mHz)

BMW 11 MM key fob emblem: $6

Destroying my spare key $0.00 (would be $500 to replace if I screwed it up)

Chip transfer $1 in materials as I already had the tools (Did it myself but any electronic repair store can do it for $20)

Everything went well and the key fob works! Range is the same and all the buttons work. Time will tell on battery life.

Awesome. So $50 for us normal people. What’re the odds it gets screwed up in the process? (If I take it to a place)

The hardest part was destroying a perfectly good key fob. Other then that, it’s very simple. Low on the difficulty scale.
