PPF carbon fiber roof - known flaw?
Didn’t get many responses from a previous post so thought I would try here.
Is it a very large concern/known issue that the clear coat comes off of the roof on our cars? Wondering if some PPF is a must do. I’m referring to my f82 Thanks |

A better question:
How many of you have no PPF on your cf roof and had no problems? You can just say “no prob”. Just want to get a feel as to whether I’d be going overboard if I had this done. Thx |

There's quite a few posts on the forum in the past with this happening in places with very high UV or temps. I don't think anyone has a percentage but it's common enough to be known.
Carbon fiber typically has a coat of epoxy and just doesn't hold as well up to UV. There's a bunch of repair threads with shops that will re-epoxy the roof from the past if you search. |

Another thing that can happen is if it gets a rock chip and it starts to slowly peel or crack off. Had a person locally pressure wash their roof and it peeled off more of the clear.

Ceramic coat and or wax it often
Park it indoors Wash with high quality chemicals often And most importantly: No automated car washes The CF roof on the 15 F80 was perfect after nearly 7 yrs now Sold it to a good friend and he still has it If you part it in the sun all day Never wash it Take it to Chevron car wash Yea PPF might be a good investment |
