Guess my state of tune

I had an F80 M3 a year ago that did 8.7s 100-200kph, stock with just a GTS gearbox flash. Low fuel light on, MDM and fresh set of PS4S tyres. Perfect UK summer conditions.

My recently bought F82 M4 however just today done 8.7s 100-200kph in abysmal conditions. PS4S with 2mm tread, its raining, temp 6C, 3/4 tank of fuel, TC on was also cutting some power, especially when going 3rd to 4th, due to the rain.

Fuel for both cars was Tesco Momentum 99RON

Previous owner told me it was bone stock and i believed him since it doesn’t have any burbles but after this run, i feel as though some lying may have occurred. Can anyone give some input on this? Is a stock M4 capable of these numbers in these conditions?

Get a Dyno it’s $30 for one run. If it doesn’t burble most likely stock. Have someone else you know with a f8x run a race with you and compare from there

I borrowed a Carly, done a diagnostic check and found a "serious" warning for "DME tampered or manipulated". I think that answers my question

Carly claims everything is serious.

If I believed all the “serious” stuff I’d seen in Carly over the years, I would have just driven my car straight to the scrapyard.

I would run your 100-200 test again several times when you actually have good conditions before forming any comparisons.

What device were you using to collect the acceleration time?

You can also look at the performance gauges on the iDrive screen to see what it reads under full throttle acceleration to see if it is reading in the 420hp range.

I am using a Dragy. I will have to wait 3-4 months for good conditions again lol. Apparently it will snow in London tomorrow.
The sports display shows 480hp and 640nm max. Under full acceleration it gets to around 430-440hp which seems about stock. But then again the DME has been unlocked and it has GTS start up roar, which doesn't make sense. Why not also flash a stage 1? The joys of buying a modified car private.

maybe it just has the Competition 444hp tune on it? Or maybe someone wanted to change other parameters of the engine tune like burbles, exhaust flap functionality, transmission tune, etc. but not actually increase the horsepower a lot. Or, they changed back to the stock map to sell the car to reduce any concerns/suspicions.

I had a buddy that bought a 2015 "stock" m3. When he brought it over so I could install lower springs on it for him, I saw one wire loom in the engine bay that wasn't factory. I chased the wires and eventually found a Burger JB4 piggyback box tucked deep in the engine bay underneath the windscreen wipers. All it took was a few clicks on the steering wheel buttons to add a 100 horsepower and my friend was very happy about that.

I think you are right that he must have put it to stock before selling to hide it was modded however it was pretty obvious. I guess we will probably never know now because my MHD WIFI dongle arrived and it is now stage 1 98RON

I did do a "readiness check" and everything was complete apart from:
Catalyst (INCOMPLETE)
Heated Catalyst (Not Avail)
Secondary Air System (Not Avail)
A/C Refrigerant (Not Avail)
Oxygen Sensor (INCOMPLETE)

Possible decat? i'll keep it stage 1 until i get it physically checked over and know for a fact it is decat and then i'll pop it over to stage 2.

my stock zcp will burble so this statement is false. Want to make this clear to the OP.

There’s other ways to tell but the most common two ways is burble tune and the horsepwoer numbers on the middle dash. So no

Huh??? NO?

Stock ZCP burble does burble.

So your initial statement of:
"If it doesn’t burble most likely stock"
Is still a false statement.

Also your word "most likely" leads to an unclear answer.

22 seconds in..

Thank you and have a good day.

Come to think about it, I maybe wrong too.. The OP said his car is not a ZCP, so my last post would be irrelevant since the video shows the competition package.

Correct. It is a 2015 model, ZCP came out late-2016. Any burble on my car would suggest a tune of some sort.
