Questions on replacing MANIFOLD on rear turbo!
Long story short found out that my rear turbo manifold is cracked. I've looked on REALOEM and noticed the manifolds come in 1 pc with the turbo included BUT they are attached by the V band clamp.
I was able to to purchase a manifold with NO turbo from a part out on eBay. Now I need an install kit. Install kits have parts for TWO turbos of course. I'm looking to piece together an install kit for ONE turbo. I definitely WILL be replacing all the gaskets/O rings BUT are all the hex nuts/torx screws and CLAMPS one time use's? Couldn't I carry it over from the original turbo? It's around $80 in gaskets/o rings VS $275 for a kit. Last edited by f82_spooly; 06-10-2021 at 12:42 AM.. |

You get all new gaskets, nuts and such...but you should reuse only your V-band clamp. You don't want to finish, hear a leak, and redo that job. New V-bands can be a b!tch to clamp/thread from under a car on jack stands, but easy if you can use a lift and buddy's hands too. A needle nose mini vise-grip saved me and held my clamp closed while I hand threaded the bolt.
