Michelin PSS 285/30/19 on rear 437M
Hi guys,
Anyone running 255/35/19 front and 285/30/19 rear on Michelin Pilot super sports? This is on OE 437m wheels. Would this set up cause issues with DSC as the rolling diameter would then be slightly smaller on the rear compared to stock. Not keen on the massive sidewall look of the 285/35/19 hence why I would rather run a lower profile on the rear but still have the benefit of a wider contact patch. I know the E92 M3 GTS ran a 255/35/19 and 285/30/19 combo but obviously that is a different car with a different suspension and traction control set up. Thanks all. |

What car, base or ZCP, etc?
Any suspension mods or springs? Stock 19in MPSS diameters are 26" front (255/35 BMW Star) and 26.6" rear (275/35 BMW Star). The MPSS 285/35ZR19 is 25.8" diameter so it will probably look funny against the front. The MPS4S in 285/35/19 has a diameter of 26.9" rear. Check out how this looks paired with the 4S 265/35 fronts at 26.3", and mounted on your wheels. https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1653959

Hi,
ZCP but running 437m and running KW V3 coilovers. Note I mentioned 285/30/19 as a proposed rear tyre not 35 profile. So the rear wheel will be slightly smaller than the front. Again I know the M3 GTS E92 ran this but the F8x platforms is obviously a different set up. Main concern is whether doing this would negatively affect DSC instrusion or handling. |

Don't do that. The DSC will freak out. Mine freaked out occasionally even with 255/35/19 and 285/35/19 and that's a tiny difference compared to your thought of going to 255/35/19 and 285/30/19.
From an aesthetic standpoint, the car would look odd as heck w/ rear tire profile thinner than front. Rear being thicker than front is standard and looks more natural. |

I've actually already gone ahead and had the tires changed out to 285/30 rear. After seeing a lot of track guys running 275/35/19 front and 305/30/19 rear with no issues I took the risk.
Glad to report there have been zero DSC issues with this set up and I have already put around 500 miles on the tires. May be in my head but seems like DSC may be interfering even less than previous but could just be new tyres gripping better. Also the set up does not look funny at all. Looks great. The 255/35/19 and 285/30/19 whilst a reverse stagger they are closer in tallness than stock set up. The E92 GTS also ran these sizes from factory. Really happy with the set up. Will probably go 295/30 next. |
