Brake Bedding - can I postpone?
I just purchased DS1.11 pads which I plan to install several days before my track day. Unfortunately, I live in Manhattan where the bedding procedure is not possible without getting arrested.
Any concern driving the car 1-2 days on the street with these pads and then performing the bedding procedure a few days later - perhaps even the night before the track day? thank you! |

It probably is actually advantageous to drive the new pads on the street for a while, so that cold braking has a chance to scrub off the layer of pad material on your rotors from your previous pad compound. That way, when you properly bed you're doing so on a "primed" rotor.

I don’t bother bedding pads anymore. Fresh pads, new rotors, go on track. If you drive to the track, your transfer layer will be removed on the way there.

Same. I usually drive to the track and the first lap do some long braking to get them up to temp and bedded in.
