***Sunburst Gold U.S. Delivery (PCH/Beach Shoot)***

After the obligatory 6-8 week wait of re-living European Delivery memories and frequenting MarineTraffic.com to follow the voyage of the 'Morning Crystal' the Sunburst Gold M3 finally arrived in the U.S.!

It was a short trip from port Hueneme to Steve Thomas BMW in Camarillo California where the car shared the showroom with a competition M6 and i8. David ( BMWDavid ) sent me several teaser videos and pictures which really helped build the anticipation and excitement to finally get to drive the car on U.S. streets!

After taking a one way rental car from Las Vegas to Camarillo my friend and photographer Jimmy Crook and I found ourselves once again sitting in the Sunburst M3! We had a nice lunch with David then took a short detour on our drive back to Las Vegas via the Pacific Coast Highway.

For those of you who have not yet enjoyed driving on CA HWY 1 I will tell you that it is just about the most euphoric and beautifully surreal drive in the country. I can't think of a more appropriate maiden cruise for the Sunburst Gold M3! Jimmy and I stopped at one of the many beaches along the route to snap some photos. We also made a stop at 'Neptunes Net', the PCH restaurant made famous in the original Fast and Furious movie.

The Sunburst paint soaks up the sun unlike any color I have seen, it takes on a deep copper color in direct sunlight and the metallic flake adds an almost frozen texture. It is very unique and everything I had hoped for in an individual order!

The 6MT paired with the endless torque of the S55 begs to be pounded at every opportunity! I was thrown off by the rev matching feature at first because I found myself trying to blip the throttle as a force of habit while down shifting. But after a very short while I grew to love the feature and how easy it made downshifting for corners. I guess my only complaint will be the fact that my heel toe technique will most likely atrophy from owning the car. Its probably by design because I doubt the next generation M3 will be available in 6MT anyway!

I'd like to thank David and Jimmy at Steve Thomas BMW for being masters of their trade and seamlessly facilitating this one of a kind order and delivery experience! I'd also like to thank Jimmy Crook (instagram:@crookslifeshots) for riding along and capturing these beautiful photos so i could share them with the bimmerpost community, enjoy!

Nice! Nope didn't have time for canyon runs, had to beat rush hour traffic through LA to get back to Vegas at a reasonable hour!
