Looking to buy a used M4, but am a bit concerned:
For the car I'm interested in - Recent owner (second) had car for only a month. Title has that owners name, then "care of" the dealership where the owner purchased it. Car was then sold at auction and bought by the independent dealership currently offering it (title not updated for current dealer's name yet). CARFAX shows front end damage from first owner, but "no accident", and no indication of severity. Clean title. Should I be worried that the second owner sold the car back to the dealership because of a major issue, possibly due to front end damage caused by first owner? I've called every BMW service center where the car was serviced, and even went to my local BMW service center where I have been taking my 328i for years - they tell me they can't share that information, though one person told me I should "do some more digging" after looking up a service record. Could there be an issue with the frame? Axles? (these were checked at BMW service center right before going to latest auction, per CARFAX) Any advice welcome, I am planning to buy from 1,600 miles away sight unseen given COVID. |

If there's no accident it means there was no police report or insurance claim I believe.
This means chances are that it was minor. People go in and out of cars all the time. But, I would only buy the car if you were getting a full PPI done. Just because it's 1600 miles away. |

Six speed narrows options down ALOT, base (not competition package), convertible, less than 35k miles. And color. CPO would be ideal, but finding it difficult to search every dealer in the country!

In 2018; I purchased my CPO 2016 F80 6 speed, Sunroof, Executive package, Full leather; car had just under 35,000 miles. On the OEM 18 inch rims. Try Cargurus I just found 44 cars that meet your spec. Competition package is not a reason to buy or not buy. The only driver discernible difference would be the ride quality of the rims under normal driving and that you could very cost effectively sell and replace. Anything around 40,000 miles is gonna a very clean vehicle Your specs are not rare.... Your biggest hurdle will be the 6 speed manual! |
