Third brake light cover

Yes, pull it straight down and it will pop off. Once popped off u can then unplug the brake light cable and take the cover down.

Does anyone know how that light is powered? Is it just one positive and one negative wire?

Does it connect into canbus? As in if it is removed does the car freak out? I ask beacuse I am considering replacing my 3rd brake light with something else.

Before the hate, note i'm not trying to rice it out... just a little different take on a third brake light.

In the past on my old 3 series I just tapped the two wires and connected it to the new LED strip... in this case, not sure if the car would freak out with its wires being tapped.

Really, I owe you one for posting this thread. Mine came RIGHT after getting the car tinted and that's what put it all together for me.

Not my pic but this is what it looks like. The blue center clip was broken just like this pic.

Picked up pack of clips at parts department today, replaced broken blue one. No more rattle!

So I took mine off today, I have a (2020 M3) and I'm not seeing a blue clip that you guys have I only got two white plastic ones, but I'm getting a rattle from that brake light goes away when I press on it though. (I only took off that trim that pops off

2021 M3 Comp here. Just in the past week I noticed a really annoying buzzing/rattling from the back and finally identified it today. Same: Pressing on it stops the rattle. Have an appointment scheduled but thinking about tinkering around with it a bit.

So that's where that rattling noise was coming from, haha. I can tell that blue clip is definitely broken when I pull on that cover. I had been living with that for 2 years. At least it's an easy fix.
