For 1., does the factory manual specify any procedures to prevent the water pathway from clogging? I am aware it uses distilled water, but curious nonetheless.
2. What aluminum carriers do you speak of? Axle carrier?

The water injection system is drained each time the engine is shut down. This is done to prevent the water from freezing if temps go below freezing. That, and specifying distilled water is the only mention in the supplementary owner's manual. Many owners get into trouble because they use tap water in their injection system. Tap water typically contain minerals that clog the injector ports.

The ALU carriers are the front strut / hub mounts. Number 8 in the picture below.

The cracking occurs on the "ears" that hold the bolts that secure the damper to the carrier. Number 13 points to those "ears".

I know it's not in California, but I sent a PM for my listing at my dealership.
Let me know if you have any questions, they could facilitate a private sale and shipping if interested
