Gts front lip

Do you guys all run your oem gts front lip at the track and on the street, or have you saved the very pricey lip and run a replica in its place?

And if so, who makes the best knock off?

Thanks

A proper replica is on its way before long, but it won't be cheap

The OEM piece is very light and very strong. For the track I want something comparable to OEM, maybe with some luck we can get a larger splitter/lip that fits the stock setup! More front aero is always good

I've seen plenty of rkp stuff, the best thing they have going for them is they are sold by IND

RKP doesn't cut it in my book.

Ah yes I've seen that one. I had it on one of the GTSs, it's all torn up and adds weight to the front of the car. But at least it's cheap-ish!

Looks the biz to me, I’m happy with it. Pics of the uninstalled original, plus left and right of installed IND version. True it is heavier.

Garage List
2016 BMW M4 GTS  [0.00]
I have 3 splitters and OEM is the best by far...as expected.

1. OEM - super lightweight and very sturdy $$$$
2. Fall-Line - Much heavier and thicker than oem yet sturdy
3. Sacrificial Plastic Splitter - a bit flimsy and has the tendency to bow in the center.

Other Options:
1. RKP CF splitter
2. Team Schirmer - Excellent quality and on par with OEM

I'm running the fall line splitter. It's thicker and heavier but can take one hell of a beating. Almost 20k street miles and 20 track days. As long as you don't hit anything square on you won't have to sleet about rubbing at all.

One other comment on the RKP: fitment and color are pretty close, but it bows quite a bit if you run it in the full race position for too long... I can probably get a pic if you're interested, it looks a bit like a hanging bridge between every attachment point! Haha

Any plastic splitter will do that - poly/ABS plastic is too heavy and flexible to effectively use the OEM mounting points.

If you make it thicker than OEM, it becomes less flexible but even heavier. The ones I made were OEM thickness but had quite a bit of bend as a result.

The real solution is to store the OEM lip and get another carbon one (OEM or replica) and just abuse the hell out of it.

Has the IND stood the test of time without fading or cracking?

I have a fall line splitter painted by Ind. Its got 20k miles on it, lots of track time and daily driving and it can take a beating and still looks good.
