Had mine replaced by the black one. Took about 20 minutes per seat. You definitely don't need to remove the seat or open them up completely. You just need to partially remove leather skin from the top. Very easy and quick.

Correct - no seat removal, just a portion of the leather around the seat. I was a little worried at first while doing mine, but the leather is extremely strong and it snaps right back into the slots when you put it back together. The emblems aren't cheap, but well worth it going to the black ones. More colorful and brighter than the silver. You won't be disappointed.

These emblems can be replaced under warranty just as long as you have the 4/50k warranty still available. It also depends on the service writer and/or warranty dept. or even the tech or foreman how they feel on whether or not to replace them. The silver ones always crack so those are garbage. You can switch them to the black ones as those don't crack. No need to remove seats at all as stated by other members on here. Takes me 5 min. per seat to replace them.

Just be aware that for f80 m3 the emblems have been superceded by a new part number with a tiny crappy short cord so unless you can find the older ones, now you have to cut and splice wires together and the diy is more complex. Definitely worth checking before ordering which ones theyre gonna send you
For m3 the good one was 52108089597 and the new short one is 52109503038 Last edited by Curare86; 09-11-2020 at 06:46 PM.. |

The black ones are just to replace the M4, but what about the cracking //M ones I have on my M3? Do those have a replacement in black but says M3? Thanks!

After the dealer change it one time to the original crap I finally get to do it myself for the last time correctly.
Did not even had to cut or join cables. |

I was surprised by the same thing. I was ready to splice and use the additional parts to get this part in there. But when I pulled the seat cover I find out the cable was already short and not the original long cable.
I guess when they change the original badge for the same one, the new one came in already with the short cable and they (dealer under warranty) most have done the work already. So when I did the exchange to the new black version it was already done. If you notice the grey old M badge has a short cable too as the new black one. |
