I will see how efficient throttle will cooperate with 2k rpm on 3rd gear which I actually go down to.
Where do you go down to 2k in 3rd? Why not shift to 2nd?

Ridge T13. I am still in the figuring out, but so far it seems ok for simplicity and this 6MT car probably has enough torque at that low to have no significant disadvantage (I would definitely not do that in my Miata). At Ridge, I need more track time and experiment (improve my skills as well) and I might not be doing the best thing; so I am always ok to be screamed with suggestions.

At PIR, I go down to near 3k on 3rd (T7) and it's actually faster and eaiser.

Track: LCMT - Quebec Canada

Car: F80 2016

Full list of mods: Bone Stock

Tires: 4 Year old ContiSport Contact (original tires)

Brakes: PFC11, Motul RB600

Time: 1:57:0

Bought the car on Thursday August 13th and had it on the track on August 17th. This time was my second session out ever in the car. Stayed in traffic for a good amount of the rest of the day, and unfortunately my old tires chunked out on the second last session of the day. Just threw some new tires on it, and can't wait to get back out there in September to improve on the time!

I've done two trackdays and an auto x on temp plates in my car. I'm running the PFC11 as well. Looking to improve some times in the fall as well at NJMP. Save the tour of the big NE tracks for next year.

I go into 2nd for both T12 and T13. But that's with a DCT, I'm not sure if the ratios are the same as the 6MT?

6MT has longer ratio. It could be a similar thing as using efficient throttle; just have to modulate differently and a lot easier than using 2nd at track out. Plus there is advantage of saving time of 2-3 shift and getting more top speed potentially. I did 1:54s at my first time with M4 and looking into doing 1.51-2s (which I will have to validate my claim, but I am pretty optimistic) so I am not horribly slow.

I noticed that Eddie (a famous person and driving mentor for many in Portland) goes down to <3k rpm at the T13 in a E46 racecar too (in a car which he said he did 1:47s).

PFC11 is such an awesome pad. Works every time, great modulation, cannotoverheat. Love it

Agreed. I tried the stock pads for reference and they would overheat easily if pushing the braking zones a bit. Track wasn't very demanding of the brakes either. PFCs were great, also cleaned up most of the deposits from the stock pads.

Oh, we're talking about different turns and it's 100% my fault. I was talking about the thumb and the off camber right hander after that. Yeah T13 is a 25-30 mph nudge, I go to 2nd for that just because I like the torque to get the rear around quicker. But that can end up in a spin if you jab too hard

I've only done two days at RMP this year, I find I've been enjoying Pacific a lot more lately. More technical than the Ridge IMO.

Went with SpeedSF last Sunday. Put on fresh rubber and pads, while suffered from overheat (though it got better in the afternoon) and dirt on the track surface (from both the wildfire and... offroading s2k's). Tried to fix my lining issues: later turn-in in T3, fast exit at T5, more speed brought to T6 etc; definitely learnt a ton. Also had fun chasing a 981 Cayman.

2nd gear is fun! Plus with DCT's near-zero shifting time, it will give one more advantages. Yet it could be too sharp and tiring/frustrating to deal with the required precision lap after lap I figure that could be one of the reasons behind a pro race car driver recommending efficient throttle.

I am also figuring out RMP. Drove Miata 2-3 times few years back but I didn't pay attention to details and it's different with M4. I wonder why somewhat Oregon folks never go to Pacific Raceways and HOD only does PIR/ORP/TRMP.

Nice video and thanks for sharing. Fresh rubber being NT01?

You should move your camera down as the rear view mirror obstructs most of the view

How is there not a time for MSR Cresson 3.1 or 1.7?
Do I really want to claim it with my horrible time?

Ah I agree with em! F80Street and you are clearly cheaters. Yuge brakes, extra pow pow, and no rear seats?! There's no other way to explain it.

I’ve seen things like that (M6 I passed in my wife’s sport wagon). Always makes me laugh. I was happy with my 2:09.x in a stock M3 with better tires and pads, but with a 2:04.x out there. Wow!

Again congratulations on the awesome time.
