Anyone know the F80 lap time off the top of their heads by chance?

Sport-Auto/Auto-Motor-und-Sport never Supertested the F80, but they achieved 7:52 with a base M4 in 2014.

What time did the manual RS4 do it in?

Not an overly impressive time but then again Audi RS vehicles or more GT focused than track focused. Still a very nice overall vehicle.

No, sadly. Otherwise my wife would have gotten that instead of the RS3.

Definitely sounds better than an F8X....but then, that's not hard to do.

This is nearly a 4,000lbs wagon(1790kg). I wouldn't expect much better to be honest.

Really no point in comparing a wagon to a sedan.

Since there is no RS4 sedan, this RS4 Avant is the closest Audi competitor to the M3.

having come out of an rs3 sportback that i do miss at times for the engine and not the full time fwd haldex setup, i was really hoping the rs4 with the real quattro torsen diff was going to be the perfect next car for me...

then they went and put a boring non-characterful workhorse engine out of a base model cayenne/panamera in it

what frustrates me is audi already have 2 great engines on the shelf in the 5 pot and v8tt

You think this 2.9 liter twin turbo is a non-characterful workhorse engine?

That's crazy man.

That's a 4000 pound AWD wagon basically operating within margin of error to a ~3500 pound RWD coupe/sedan m3/m4 on the 'Ring. (Margin of error for different days and drivers). Put aside engine, helluva job Audi.

Wish US gets wagons. There are so many good ones that US never gets because the general, old, public doesn't buy them.

Fucking SUVs.

Completely agree.

And that a 4,000lb wagon did the ‘ring in under eight minutes is incredible. Bravo Audi.

Audi is an oddball company...only making the RS4 in a wagon, then choosing to not even bring that to the U.S. Decent cars, but they seem more intent to fitting into microsegments than competing head on with the big boys. Do like your RS3 though, albeit being really tiny inside. That car was better suited to being a hatchback IMHO, and the RS4 better suited to being a sedan. They seem to do everything ass backwards.

Agreed. Besides, that 2.9L is no slouch. It makes 440 hp in the Panamera 4S. The base Panamera has a different motor.

We do like our RS3 a lot. And it is not that tiny, it is actually very similar in size to the B7 S4 it replaced in our driveway. We actually found the B9 S4 to be on the big side when we originally test drove it when we were shooping to replace the old S4. That being said, if the B9 RS4 would have been offered in Canada, it is likely what my wife would have chosen. Audi RS are more intended as fast and sporty practical all-season daily drivers than sharp canyon carving or track weapons. They figured and know their niche segment and fulfill it well.

Just this week, we were invited by Audi Canada to test drive the various Audi Sport models. The lineup included the RS3, TT-RS, RS5, RS7, R8 Spider and R8 V10+. It was a very enjoyable afternoon. I was left rather un-impressed by the RS5 in terms driving dynamics. It is a very well appointed luxury grand tourer, but overall I much prefered the dynamics of the RS3 in terms of engine, transmission and handling. I was quite surprised by this.

I would like an RS6 stateside...not a fan of the E63S AMG wagon.

Just was over in Germany and saw RS3 wagon, multiple rs6 wagons, etc.

Beautiful cars and lines. Audi does it right, US just doesn't buy 'em.

I can understand why... there's no a-bahn here to really leverage the high speed all weather cruising ability.

Not to mention cheap gas and space to have multiple cars
