Aftermarket Warranty Pricing Thread

I have been searching for a thread that lists aftermarket warranty and prices. I am buying an m3 and plan to either attempt to CPO or buy an aftermarket warranty. I see some threads out there that list companies but no prices or coverage info. I can't do the Geico MBI because car will be used when I purchase it. If you have bought or gotten quotes please list them here. This will be a good resource for those that will be buying used or coming out of factory warranty.

Please give feedback on this quote and any other offer and also please let me know what you have gotten for quotes as well- BMW said roughly 4300 to CPO but the issue with that its not a bumper to bumper like most aftermarket and they will only cover to 2 years past the current warranty

Just bought my 2015 last month...it's approaching the end of the 4 year factory warranty this August.

Dealer sold me a 3 year (from date of sale) $0 deductible bumper to bumper warranty valid at any BMW dealer for $2000.00.

At that price I couldn't say no even though the car only has 24k miles on it.

That is super cheap. I am amazed that they were able to do that for so cheap. It may be related to your mileage as well.

I also opted against the BMW extended on my used 2015 because it wouldn't cover the term of my note on it. Vehicle had 13,000 miles and was originally CPO'd but the dealer I purchased it from dropped the CPO to drop the price significantly.

I ended up going with Endurance Auto Warranty after researching online. I purchased before my factory warranty is up to safeguard against potential pricing increases, even for a shorter post BMW warranty term. We'll see if that gamble pays off.

My quote research focused on 60 or 72 months, about 10K miles/year. I found some as low as $1400 but saw a lot of reviews online about horror story claim denials. $2500+ quotes came from reputable outfits that cover major components, and then $4000+ quotes were bumper to bumper (all sans maintenance and wear/tear items).

Coverage: "Supreme"/Exclusionary (covers everything including the gizmo electronics)
Term/Miles: 72/80,000
Deductible: $100
Cost: $4,290

81K total on the odometer, so around 11K a year. I've put only 4K on this first year of having it so plenty for my purposes.

There Are good aftermarket warranties out there. Look for exclusionary contracts that state exactly what is NOT covered under their policy so you know if it's not listed in the NOT covered section you're good.

I'd be curious to find out if they'd cover it once you install aftermarket parts. You could say I'm going to do xyz to the car, what would it cost to cover the power train parts. Has anyone seen this type of coverage?

If you have Geico you should look into their extended warranty also. People are paying about $10-$15 per month

I recently purchased a 2015 M4 with 32K miles that is coming out of factory warranty in three months. Easy Care seems to come up often. I live in South Florida where the local BMW dealership sells Easy Care and happens to also take it. They made it sound like almost all BMW Dealerships take it.

If this good option - what is the best way to buy it? Should I get it from the used car dealer I bought the car from? I believe they quoted me $3500 for the warranty that covers the car for a think 7 years and 75K. I only drive 8K a year so basically another four years of warranty.

Thoughts? Other options?

Likely don't exist. If you find one it would probably be astronomical in cost. It's like an insurance policy, no one would insure you to fight a lion in a cage, but there may be one carrier out there that would give you a policy for an astronomical amount.

If it's certified and verified by the DMV inspector like I have to do for full coverage insurance I don't see why not?

Because insurance for accidents does not equal a car warranty for a rebuilt car's power train etc. I mean, I don't see how they are even close to the same. Honestly if there is someone out there that will sell you an extended warranty on a rebuilt title for less than $7k+ I will happily eat me words.

if you are referring to Geico's Mechanical Breakdown Insurance, just FYI you have to purchase it when the car is less than 15 months old and with less than 15K miles

As I've stated in various threads, you need to read the actual contracts....not the online marketing summary.

The devil is in the details

And it's more important to look for what you DO NOT SEE.

For example, most do not cover diagnostic time. Even the better ones only cover 30 minutes to 60 minutes.

I had a short in my KCAN line that was causing issues on everything connected. Of course the KCAN runs from the rear of the car to the front and all points in between.

No one would touch it without an open ticket on hours as it could easily take 10-15 hours just to determine where the short was. And my EW would only pay the 1 hour diagnostic time.

Luckily it was found in just under 3 hours so I was on the hook for 1 3/4 hours and the EW Company paid for 1 hour.

It was actually the Underseat Driver's ECU that failed and that was covered 100% (a $650 or so part and labor).

Then there is the shop fees. Many do not cover the shop fee on the invoice. Sales Tax? Not all do.

Rental Cars? All over the place. Some will only cover if the book time for the repair is over 4 hours (that does not mean you waiting 4 hours). And then it's only for a day. If you have to wait 2-3 days for a part...tough luck.

Some will refuse to pay above average hourly rate in area which keep you from using BMW Dealership. Some require certain shops.

Towing? Covered or not? How far? Only to nearest shop that can fix (not the one you want) or where you want?

What about non-OEM parts?

And of course the deductible.

So again, you need to read the ACTUAL CONTRACT. And look for things that are not mentioned (or EXACTLY what is mentioned).

Bottom line...it's ridiculous to make a decision solely on price.
