Yeah. Typically if you're a taxpayer in the town you get pulled over in, they are lenient. Then again, I don't drive aggressively, change lanes, cut people off. This was a Sunday morning donut run at 6:30am. I was the only one out there.

Something very similar happened to me lately - got pulled over doing 62 in a 40 because someone slammed on their brakes in front of me (because they saw the officer), so I swerved and sped up to get around. Pulls me over, thanked me for pulling over safely in a parking lot since there was a decent amount of traffic. Give him my stuff, asked me if I knew how fast I was going, told him no but i had to avoid the car that slammed on the brakes in front of me. He leans in my window with the radar gun with a big smile, and says "Going pretty fast for a 40mph zone". Goes back to his car and comes back.

He proceeds to literally start petting my m4 carbon fiber roof and saying how cool it is and the color (YMB). Then asks me if I have a front plate. I'm thinking "damnit I'm gonna get speeding ticket AND fix it for the plate". Told him no not with me, he said no worries be safe, wanted to see your car and if you were a decent guy, so I'll let you off with just a fix-it ticket for the front plate.

One of my neighbors bought a new Audi A3 cabriolet about the time I bought my M4, which was two years ago now. He calls it his "roadster". I also have a Z4 M Roadster, and I have quite pointedly told him that he doesn't have a roadster, I have a Roadster, he has a cabriolet, or a convertible, but definitely not a roadster. Not sure he really understands.

Yesterday, he posts on my FB timeline "So I’m reading that a 330 takes 5.9 secs to reach 60 mph... is that fair?" and then follows up with "And I’m reading an A3 turbo only takes 5.4 secs... oh my!", apparently implying that his car is faster than my car (?).

Well, I looked up the specs on Car and Driver (consistent source) and replied "Your 4-cylinder Audi A3 has 220 HP and does 0-60 in 5.5 seconds (Car and Driver). The 4-cylinder BMW 330i has 248 HP, and actually does 0-60 in 5.4 seconds (also Car and Driver). My M4 (425 HP) does 0-60 in 3.9 seconds (pretty much any magazine test). My 2006 Z4 M Roadster (330 Hp) does 0-60 in 4.9 seconds. And (my wife's) new M3 Competition Package will have 444 HP and will do 0-60 in 3.8 seconds. There's no substitute for horsepower!

And of course horsepower is not actually the primary reason we buy these cars. Lateral acceleration, measured on a skidpad, can be used to measure a car's handling ability, the higher number the better. A3: 087g, my M4: 0.98g, (My wife's) M3: 0.98g."

He didn't reply.

TL;DR: He thinks I have a 330i and his A3 is faster than a 330i (and that's not even true!)

My neighbors are all pretty cool. I was in the driveway washing the new F80 and one of them stopped and got out of his car to admire it. The one directly next door to me is away for the summer, but he has a 1984 factory turbo look 911 Carrera in the garage. But, cold start, valves open on the ZCP is definitely louder than my M4 was.
