Hey guys having trouble unplugging the electrical wires in the steering wheel. How did you guys manage to unplug the blue portion pictured below? Thanks!

There's no magic, it just unplugs. I believe the portion on the left is the male end, pull that out from the larger socket on the right/middle side.

Did you use any tools to help yank it out? I've been trying but it's not coming loose. Do you have to push down on any of the tabs? Maybe I'm just that weak? My fingers are in pain. HAHAHA!

Press in the tab circled in red. Then the plug will come out easy.
You can just pull it really hard and it will unplug, but its hard to do that without pulling the wires too (or hurting your fingers). You need a set of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-PIECE-MI...kAAOSwaB5XpMZa They are absolutely invaluable for this kind of work. Don't know I would manage without them now. |

doughboy nailed it. I always have little picks like that on me when doing something like this. I'm sure I just pushed the clip and didn't think about it.
Yep, as seen in below image from 1st post:

According to my BMW dealership once the race wheel is fitted it cannot be reused on to another BMW. Is this for real?
They say some electric component once wired cannot be reused onto another BMW car.

The only thing I can think of is the 2-pin plug, that is not supposed to be re-used. However, that is a <$1 part that any dealership should have spare stock of.

Very interested in purchasing the wheel. Read that the heated function is lost. Does the vibration function also get lost? (lane departure, blind spot activated and signaling..etc.)?

Yes heating is lost as the BMWP wheels are not available heated.
But the vibration module swaps over from your original wheel so that will still function. |

Questions re CON3
Okay, need some help. I've *pretty much* breezed through the steps. Have pins 18/19 from CON2 into socket E cleanly and inserted harness pins into CON2 to close the loop. Nice clean connection.
CON3 is a different story. My connectors are different than what's posted in Reachs' pics. My vehicle is a 2015 435. I ended up tapping the green wire into a blue/red wire that had no indication on the plug that it was pin 19. I went with colour only which may be a mistake. Now I see there's another install manual that identifies connector X5*1B, which is in the door panel. Okay no big deal. Question is, can anyone say for sure that the green wire is for power? Yes the brown is ground but doesn't necessarily follow green is power unless that's the common colour for power/ground or someone can say, 'it is known'. Haha I wonder if X5*1B is simply easier to get at than CON3? Seemed pretty tight in there. Anyone been here, done this? If it's just for power and that blue/red wire on CON3 is power, I'll leave it there. I have not 'tried' it out as I don't feel like wrecking anything. Anyone know where we can get pinouts for these connectors? |

Are you sure you're looking in the right harness connectors? According to RealOEM, the FEM hardware is the same across F20/F30/F80 variants.
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part...&q=61356843893 To answer your question, yes, if you don't get the green wire hooked up, you're not tied in to the bus.

I take it you mean the in-wheel heater/vibrate control unit?
Not sure of your exact vin / date but find the part on realoem.com, it's NOT in the steering wheel section of course! Try: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=61_3457 You just need to choose the one to suit the functions you have / want. |

CazuaLLUK You PM'd me about this as well I believe, just ask here.
The wheel is the same for the F30 and F80. So yes, and F80 wheel can go in an F30. As far as I am aware, the control unit and cabling is not available as a separate part #. It should have been provided from wherever you received the wheel.
