Alfa Giulia Coupe

Reports say this 2019 Alfa coupe will have 641HP and will use a version of Ferrari's hybrid Hy-KERS system. I'm intrigued.

Beautiful from the side. Hopefully they can extend it to the front.

as an avid italian car fan/owner, this sounds great

but given they can't get a combustion engine and existing electrical system to be reliable, is adding even more electricity a good idea

looks good from the side!

I don't like the front, with the V, and the overall design looks less Italian to me than Japanese Infiniti.

So many nice cars to choose from, no complaints!

Looks great! I am questioning that horsepower figure though.

That render looks really good! However, looks have not typically been Alfa's problems.

Added electric motor like in the LaFerarri....781 HP plus another 161 from the electric motor. It's certainly doable.

That thing is stunning.

If the actual track performance is there to match what’s on paper, I will seriously be considering one.

wow the coupe looks gorgeous.

I have driven the 4dr giulia quatrofoglio and it was a nice car. engine sounded awesome, interior was nice. No manual option and outrageous lease rates ($1350/mo) cut the shopping short.

Render is gorgeous. Too bad they'd likely stick that ugly corporate front face on it if they build it. But the 4C and Giulia QF still look great despite it

The QF already outperforms its rivals, this would just raise the bar even further - possibly aiming to crush the GTS. But on the flip side, I've never read or watched a review of that car where it didn't break DURING the test.

Actually, it doesn't. Not the M3/4 at least...

Absolutely doable, but will they?

This 2019 coupe will be competing with the next gen G80 M4 which it is rumored will not have a manual transmission option either and this competitive advantage for BMW disappears.

A lot of comments on the looks of the Giulia Coupe but what jumps out at me is the 641HP that will likely blow the doors off any G80 based on current understanding. The only uncertainty is pricing and the dreaded piss poor Alfa quality/reliability concerns.

There's still time for BMW to react and the hope is that BMW sees what its competition are doing and decides to do the right thing and stop the continued Lexisification of its cars and go back to its performance roots.

Great looking profile. I've always been of the opinion that the Alfa front end design suits coupes very well, sedans not so much.

Having said that, the design does look rather Japanese (think Infiniti).

I think the 4-door Giulia is absolutely hideous. This coupe however, is absolutely stunning!

A 2-door couple with close to 650HP is going to be pushing north of $100K. Plus it will most likely be RWD only... with that much power and RWD it'll be as useless on the public roads as my Hellcat was.

Damn, is it beautiful though. Too bad they lease so shitty. I'd never buy/finance one due to major depreciation and reliability issues that these Alfa's seem to be plagued with.

Doesn't it? Admittedly it's a game of inches on the street but IIRC the Alfa was better in the standard instrumented testing. On the Nürburgring the Alfa crushes the BMW. I just used Wikipedia and C&D for these numbers so I'm happy to be proven wrong by other sources.

My real point, though, is whether or not you agree that the current QF is better, that coupe above is going to raise the bar by a huge amount.

I wouldn't write the G80 off performance wise, look at the performance figures people are getting on the F80 M3 with a tune a 1k in mods, you won't get that with the Alfa. 550-600whp. traction is the issue now. If G80 solves that with a switchable AWD like the new M5 that will be fun.

BMW definitely still has time to react and we'll see what they come up with.
