M3 vs 600hp R8

Excuse the iphone video, but we just came up on this beast on the way down the mountain. I egged him on a bit and he took the bait. lol
It was nice to see that he couldn't pull away from me.

Drive much in the canyons? You don't want to go much faster than this on a public road.

This looks like the bottom of CA2. Love that drive! However, I'm pretty sure that R8 would smoke us lowly M3/4 drivers.

Video can be deceiving based on the focal length of the camera you are using. However, it is common to ride kind of that close on the CA 2 amongst friends. Strangers, and especially if they are in a mini-van, not so much.

R8 driver was either clueless or making no effort. A Honda Accord could have tailed him.

R8 was no where near the limit. I wouldn't get too excited.

Not a fan here. Just enjoy your own drive instead of pushing someone on the public road.

Man OP was really hoping for a different reaction. I guess not all forum members are racer boys who tail unsuspecting supercar/performance car drivers just trying to have a fun day in the canyons.

When I used to live in LA and go up into the mountains, there were always a few yahoos trying to do this. I would pull off when possible and let them fly by, or just stop in the middle of a straight and let them pass. I'm just out here trying to enjoy my car, not win Le Mans. Ride someone else's ass.

OP, come out of your dreamworld. The R8 is in a different league than the M3/4. Just this weekend, a good track buddy of mine tossed me the keys to his brand new R8 RWS to take it out for a full session on track. What a machine. I was hitting a 15mph higher top speed on the back straight than with my M4 without even pushing hard. The R8’s handling is also superb and super responsive to throttle steering.

On the other hand, vid is a reminder that big hp cars are sometimes harder to max out and more intimidating

But yea, sorry OP

The comical thing about the video is they are going downhill, coasting or braking most of the time. When I first watched it, I thought is was a joke but later realized he was being serious. Sorry OP for being harsh.

So much that is wrong with this video. First and foremost, stop pressuring other drivers to drive fast, that's how crashes happen. You're going to destroy someones life, let alone their car. Secondly that R8 driver clearly wasn't giving it the beans, he would have been gone if he wanted to but let's be honest, neither of you should be driving that erratically on the streets. Driving over the double yellow lines into cross traffic, tailgating the driver in front of you at the same time, neither is a good recipe for continued use of your legs. One wrong turn and you're going off that mountain, or god forbid you strike a completely unknowing motorist coming from the other end of the road.

If you want to drive like that do it here and stop endangering other people's lives - http://www.speedventures.com

Remember a mother and her infant child were just killed a couple weeks ago from idiot drivers like this in Florida. Seriously disappointed that people are still glorifying driving like an idiot on public roads. Nobody finds this impressive or cool.

"Egged him on and he didn't take the bait because he's got better things going on. He could easily pull away but was completely indifferent because he gave no f**ks about some racer boy behind him"

There, I fixed it for you.

The R8 wasn't even remotely trying to lose you in any way shape or form. A good
driver in an R8 would've given you a run for your money.
