Hi all,

Is there anyone who lives in NY area who does legit coding to disable active sound & maybe to fold mirror?

I recently installed exhaust and active sound needs to go.. way too much sound going on!

Please let me know if you know anyone!!

You don't need to code. Just unplug it.

I didnt even know you can unplug it like that. Coding is definitely easier tho. Just download the bimmercode app and turn it on/off whenever you please.

Just unplug the active sound module per the video. Very easy. Hardest part is putting the trunk liner back into place.

Watching the video I can say that the sound (tone, timbre) off is the same as on except it's quieter. It's an identical sound that's just amplified. Maybe that's the idea. I was thinking it would sound different with it off.

Check this out, it may impact your decision to deactivate

https://www.bmw-m.com/en/topics/maga...ent-sound.html

EXEC SUMMARY:
What is it that distinguishes the sound of a turbo engine from that of a naturally aspirated design? And why is this so?
The acoustic properties of a turbo engine represents a great challenge to sound designers. The turbo charger's paddle wheels that are located in the air intake and exhaust tracts are effectively a barrier that blocks off intake and combustion noise. As a result, the airborne noise transmitted from the intake is virtually eliminated. And this is immediately noticeable in the interior of the vehicle. Only the relatively weak structure-borne sound transmission remains intact.

Just done it by myself today. Cabin noise def. quiets it down. No more crazy droning of my exhaust. It was the amplifier that made it drone so bad! i'm so glad that i no longer have the fake active sound!

I couldn't agree more. That drone used to give me a headache every time I drove the car more than 30 min.

Been meaning to unplug ASD for a year now, but decided to get the bimmercode app and code it out instead of wasting 10-15 minutes unplugging, and now all the other benefits of coding begin.

Dumb questions ... did you buy an ODB2 scanner to use with the app? If so, which did you buy? Does it need to remain plugged in to keep the ASD turned off? I've heard of these devices causing error codes if they remain plugged in.

Watch this video. Buy the things listed in the description - problem solved.
Once you code the device can be unplugged.

It should not effect sound at all, its purely placebo. If anything your just conditioned to the background noise being there and now you hear more of the spectrum of sound with out it.
