Dash cam and data logging set up

After an unfortunate incident with a lorry peppering my car with stone chipping and £10k of damage I have decided to invest in a dash cam to have evidence in future.

I am looking for a set up to run day to day but something that will work well on trackdays as well.

I have looked at the race logic kit and whilst it looks great and all comes as a package, I can't justify the cost for what reads like a relatively old spec vs latest video standards etc.

Is anyone out there running Harry's lap timer with recommendations for external HD dashcam, GPS and overlay data an OBDII dongle?

Any guidance on track day compliant camera mounts would be good also as most I can find are designed to mount to head rests bars which the M4 doesn't have. Do sucker type attachments need a tether?
