I just had a track day on the new tires and oh man was that a blast.

I will update the imgur (

) link with the 4 corners. I can say that the fronts took a little bit of a beating in comparison to the rears.

You can see that with the added contact pad on the front tires was 100% used from side to side. The rears look pretty normal with a little high temp track wear.

Hi there,

Thx for sharing those high quality pictures. Wider tires definitely look better than the stock size IMO. I recently am trying to fit a new set of PS4S to my 437M wheels. I am torn between the stock size and 265-285/35/19. Did upgrading to larger tires provide more grip for you? Is there anything else that's changed noticeably after you upgraded?

Thx!

Do all the right research to make an informed decision, a wider section width does not necessarily translate to more rubber on the road...

I realized that. However, looking at the original post, I found that tread width is comparably more important than just the section width. After comparing the specs on Tire Rack, I found that although upgrading to 285 from 275 in the rear does not mean a huge increase in thread width(only a .2'' increase), the tread width increases by .7'' when upgrading from 255 to 265 in the front. Hence why I wanted to know if that would mean more grip?

It's only 2% more tread width in the rear, you probably won't feel the difference. However, the 8% increase up front will be more noticeable.

I stick with the stock 255/35R19 front and 275/35R19 back because it rains a lot in Belgium and this car is my daily driver, I drive 150 kilometers per day on the highway at speeds between 110 km/h and 140 km/h. I stick to the stock size to prevent aquaplaning as much as possible. Hence I prefer the ‘wet’ performance over the ‘dry’ performance and also our roads are of poor quality and wider tyres will not be comfortable. I could consider 255/35R19 front and 285/35R19 in the back but that wouldn’t be noticeable except in my wallet.

Fitted a set of brand new PS4S yesterday and I am amazed with the result. I went with 265-285/35/19 in the end because I wanted to keep tread width ratio as close as possible to the that of the stock. Compared to my old Conti's, which came in stock with the car, it's such a big difference in terms of traction. I barely lost traction at 2nd gear with wot in the new tires; whereas, I would struggle to put the power down with the Conti's. I haven't yet to drive in the wet with these new tires but I am sure that's where the most improvement I will see for PS4S. Overall, I am really happy with how it turned out. Thank you to CanAutM3 for such an educational thread. Here is a picture with the new tires and Eibach V2s.

Why did you go with 265F/285R’s instead of 275F/295R’s? I’m also looking to replace my PSS’s with the PS4S’s to increase grip. I figure I might as well go for the widest my OEM 19” wheels will allow, and per OP’s conclusion that was 275F/295R’s. OP stated that the PSS 295’s fit in the rear, does that mean the PS4S’s should also fit?

You cannot do a straight transposition for PSS to PS4S.

For now, the only available 295/35R19 PS4S is the MB E63 specific one that has a narrower tread width than the generic 285/35R19 PS4S, hence one is better off going with the 265-285/35R19 combo.

Hi guys, lately i have started to lose traction a lot maybe due to carbon fibre changes, especially after boot and decided to go something safer.

I am planning 295/35zr/19 in rear and 265/35zr/19 in front with 19 x 9.0 front and 19 x 10.00" back veeman wheels.

do you have any other suggesstions? I am in UK and in so much rain lately. after boot change the car has started to lose traction more. it doesnt matter dry or wet but wet is even worse. Car is stock, only mpe. Forgot to add : eibach springs lowered front and rear.

I would appreciate suggestions.

I like the 275 295 35 for the 19" But, would you still run spacers with it this setup? Sorry if this has been answered before.

After a lot of reading through this thread, i decided to give the tried and true MPSS option a try so that i could compare to the 4s and possibly cup2's later into ownership. I just got the car a couple months ago and this is the first time the car feels like a proper M car! The 265/35M0 fronts and 295/35* Rear combination is amazing! the car rotates around turns like my old evo x if not better and the traction has gotten MUCH better.
Here are some pictures. I also added FC titanium stud conversion kit, and 10mm Front/12mm Rear spacers.

Glad you like the combo, I did a fair bit of research to figure it out. Looks great

And I truly appreciate it! The fitment is great and improvement in handling is unreal! I hope PS4S feel as good, I’ve been following the thread just wanted to have a basis of comparison since the car is new to me. But again, thanks for your help!

Have been reading through all the latest posts in this thread.

For the PS4S I am between the standard 255/275 setup

Or

265/285

Some of the posts seem to say that the 265 is more squared and therefore really isn't meant to be a front tire. Would welcome any feedback or thoughts. Thanks!

Why not check and post here Michelin Pilot Sport 4S https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1350040 ? I have the 4S 265/285R19 on my M4 and very happy with their overall comfort and performance during day to day driving.

I'm currently running coilovers (with front camber plates with about 2,25 º of camber for daily/track use) on stock tires and wheels with 12/15 mm spacers. I'm looking to upgrade to the 265/295 combo. What spacers can I run without any rubbing being lowered? I think my front axle won't be an issue as I run more camber than stock but the rear is a bit concerning to me as I'm reading here.

As a reference, the stock 265/35R19 PSC2 rubbed slightly on the fender on my M4cs lowered on MP-HAS with 2.7deg front camber and 12mm spacers when cornering hard on track. No rubbing for daily driving though.

Nice that this thread got brought back to life as I've been meaning on doing some research on going up in size on my stock 19s. Is the 265/295 combo the most tire we can fit on the stock wheels? How does a 295 PS4S compare to my 275 PS4S for straight line traction?

I am lowered on Eibach V2s and have 12mm spacers all around, any potential rubbing issues?

TIA

NickyC is running the 265/295 and is running very low with KW V3s - he could probably give you some insight and give us another opportunity to check out his car
