Smile Dinan stage 1 coming

hi everyone - I've never posted here before but i thought i would because it was hard for me to find information about whether its worth it to do a dinan upgrade or not. one person has a long review here, with videos and lots of pictures but for all i know he works for dinan and is biased. (i did speak to a local bmw independent place and they told me the other tunes just increase the boost (which is easy i guess) and shut off the knock sensors (whatever they are) which is not a good combination VS. the dinan people are silicon valley engineers and do much more to the software/hardware than the cheaper chip upgrades. who knows if thats true or not.

im NOT a car guy. i don't know anything about engines or where my spark plugs are or why my 2015 m3 is so fun to drive BUT i do think that if the engine is capable of more power (hp and torque) then why not take advantage. so i ordered the stage 1 from my dealer for $2850 installed. When it comes on monday and is installed, ill let you know if i see a difference that is worth the $ if anyone is interested. I'm hoping it isn't a waste of $....

Here's my review. I have no affiliation with Dinan.

FYI, Money2536 also has a great review (noted below). If you can't trust the reviews + comments already provided from others (both lovers & haters of Dinan), you're probably in the wrong forum .

I just had my 1200 mile service and had the Dinan installed yesterday. Can't really say I feel that much of a difference, but my dealer and the guy that installed it said it felt way faster. I guess time will tell. I was pretty set on the ESS tune, but worried about the warranty on my car so went with the Dinan.

But I do have hopes that this "new Bluetooth app" (TBD) will open up for more options. No idea.

Has anybody ever actually used Dinan warranty to cover a blown engine?

Yes. A guy over on Bimmerfest, BuraQ, they blew his 335i, paid him off, he then went to a 335IS adding a Dinan S3. From there he tried Renntech but has currently gone to a Cobb ATR self tune flash only by PTF. Runs quarters down in Fl. Nice guy, very knowledgable.

Simply do before and after dyno testing. There is a 3 day return policy with Dinan, so if it doesn't perform you can return it. I did the testing, wasn't as strong as I hoped (up top) but does pull really strong below 5000rpm. Kept the tune.

I'm hoping to see an S2 with a reasonable bump up in hp/tq.
