I went through a set of CCB pads in 2500 miles, 1000 of which were track miles. With a sent of pads at $1000 and a set of rotors at $13500 my cost I switched to AP/Essex. The AP/Essex has a better brake feel, no fade, and great pad/rotor life. I am getting about 20 to 23 track days per pad change. I installed the 25 mm front pads which makes a big difference. Also even with Euro MDM the rear pads will wear quickly so unless it is wet, I turn off the MDM and pad life is very good. I have 4000 miles (nearly all track) on the rotors with reasonable wear. I will replace the rotors next season when I need new pads.
Love the car but there are lot's of hacks to make it a better track car. Once the water injection was upgraded to the latest version car has been reliable and fast. |

15 Oct 2018 went if for water injection issues. Per the notes on the RO "Error messages due to faulty valve block in conjunction with software update. (optimized valve block needs to be installed." Before this the water injection was problematic. 2300 miles later (mostly track) no issues since.

In regards to Racing Brake, its been a couple of years since i went to Racing Brake directly to visit their shop, I spoke with the president at the time, may be still same guy, i think it was Wong, Wayne, something like that. Anyways, he was very helpful as to my questions and we were talking about iron vs ceramic. He said that he test his products by driving around his daily S-Class(At the time of discussion) that has swapped brakes. He had ceramic rotor on front left, iron on front right.... then iron rotor left rear and ceramic rear right. Seems odd right? I asked him why he did that and reasoning for it, simply put, No one drives the same each day, you cant drive one month on iron and expect to do the same brake application the next month. Aside from getting all mathematical on here, I would say that there is some logic with that. Hope to work with them on some future projects. The only reason I haven't done any upgrades with them is because I prefer plug n play items where ever i can from Factory. Kinda weird, but hey. |

Racing Brake (U.S. based) now offering refurbishing for BMW ceramics. GTS would be $1600 for the front pair, $1400 for rears. Price includes shipping to RB https://www.racingbrake.com/Disc-Ref...tor-s/7657.htm
